GIMP and tablet issues

Postby vcool on Wed Jul 22, 2009 7:19 pm

Alright, after two years I realised that my cheap Genius 6x8 tablet has pressure settings. Joyfully, I decided to download the latest drivers to enable them (since I only used it as plug'n'play, so without any presure settings, etc.)

After screwing around with the drivers (they made a mistake on the website, so that the apperent "Vista-only" driver is actually just a revised driver for all windows versions but with added Vista support...sigh) I finally got it in.

And lo and behold - I can finally feel what AWESOME feels like. I couldn't imagine that using pressure could be so handy.

Now the problem - pressure works absolutely fine in Zbrush and in the tablet software, but GIMP has a problem:

The pressure still works, since the opacity changes, but the cursor position does not match the position of the brush.

The funny thing is, I can click on windows and stuff with the cursor, but tools like brushes, selection, etc. appear at an offset. This didn't happen before I installed the tablet driver. This is also a fresh install of GIMP.

The offset also increases the more I go away from (0,0) and happens only horizontally. This leads me to believe that the problems could be caused by the fact that I have a widescreen, while my tablet isn't widescreen. but this never happened before, and Zbrush works like a charm. :/

Any suggestions?
