Virtualbox on xubuntu hammer support.

Postby Marked One on Wed Aug 26, 2009 11:24 am

I run Virtualbox on xubuntu jaunty. I have experimental directx installed in safe mode, opengl enabled. (winxp guest)
When I run hammer, it crashes with a 'memory could not be ''read''' error, or it does not render the 3d/2d preview panes. and has visual artifacts. I have heard that you could run it with -- -opengl, but had no success with running the hammer app (could not load steam app user data).

Could somebody help?

I havent had any success with virtualbox' experimental 3d support. Not with hammer, nor any other game or program.

Ok, but I have the same problem with WINE, child windows are black. If I knew how to run the hammer app directly, I would test the -- -opengl parameter. And bf 1942 works with experimental 3d, albeit with crappy framerates. Opengl, however, runs perfectly.

I thought VB doesn't support hardware gfx? Your best bet would be wine me thinks.

Have you considered doing a dual boot with a Windows installation, if at all possible?
