Hmm, what is the difference between these two?

The case seems like the only difference...

First one has a higher core clock speed. 850MHz vs 800MHz.

Ah, I'll go ahead and get the one with 50 more then. It's the same price so, it doesn't make a real difference.

Good choice :d

Have fun with the new GPU :D

Make sure you have a decent PSU before the final purchase!

It's 500W, so it should be fine.

I am loving the new GPU, I can HL2 and Crysis(high) without lag. And it doesn't even make any noise.

By the way, anyone know how to bypass the stupid DX10 thing in crysis, it keeps me from going into Very High settings. I can't use DX10 as I use XP.

Very High is specifically the DX10 settings, I believe. You won't be able to use them unless you change your OS.

I remember somewhere that they said you could trick DX10 to install and run on XP.

What card did you buy? Also a 500 watt PSU sounds really bad, I'd go wtih a 650.

5770. It recommends a 450, so I think I am fine. I only have one HDD and CD drive. So really, it should have plenty of power.

It seems to me that DX11 is more important than PhysX.

You're more likely to find a game in the future (even thought I detest the idea) that requires DX11, rather than one which requires PhysX.

That said, I prefer Nvidia based on the strength of their drivers. The last time I got an ATI card I had to RMA it because absolutely none of it's gamma-adjusting options did shit when it came to fullscreen-3d mode, meaning almost all games were totally unplayable on my aging CRT. Prince of Persia came with it as a bundled extra, and the introductory levels were literally too dark to play in fullscreen mode.

There are a few ways to get very high through tweaks and a few minutes on google will show you. My preference, however, is the CCC 2.1 (3.0 for Warhead) setup. Not only is it a set of tweaks that runs things at very high, but it runs better and they've also tweaked the TOD so it looks even better than default Crysis. Definitely, definitely do it.

As for XP. It's time to move on. Get Windows 7. Your card is fantastic and awesome and powerful, and running XP won't hurt that, but when it comes time that you want to enable DX 11 features, you're going to find you can't (you need vista or 7), and I've yet to see any good workarounds. It's a very strong OS and definitely worth it.

My brother has 7 as he needed a new system. I can only see only a few problems so far; first, it seems to have permission problems, I tried to install the sandbox editor on his computer, it told me half way through the installation that it did not have proper permissions. And I can't find any work-around. Second, the network fixing utility sorta sucks, my brother's computer was having internet problems and when I told it to trouble shoot, it told me it had an DNS error(no shit) then gave me a link to online help... with XP, I had the same problem, I could just click "Repair" and it would renew everything(fixing it). Another problem was that it closed games while they were loading if you pushed any buttons, telling me the program became non-responsive.

Really those are what is keeping me from upgrading.

I was wondering, I got a 5770, but for some reason I get less then 30 FPS on average with EP2, GMOD, etc. Yet, I can run crysis around 30fps on high, whats up with that?

What could cause this?

By the way, here is my 3d-mark test, though this version is old.

I found out what was killing my average FPS, under the 3D settings in the CCC, there is a setting for "AA modes", I had it set on "Super-Sample AA", I put it on "Multi-Sample" and got my frame rate back up.

I found out a while ago, I just forgot to post my solution, in case some else has this problem.
