nvidia 8800gt doesn't work anymore :(

today I was playing Tf2 and all the sudden everything looked weird and all the colors were screwed
my pc froze.. I rebooted.. everything seemed to be working fine again
so a while later I was playing l4d2 and the same shit happend...
I tried again and again but I everytime I tried to play a game the same problem occurd

so I opened up my pc and cleaned it up a bit, removed the dust etc.
I connected my graphics card and hooked the pc back up and now the screen looks all weird and shit even @ desktop
I was like wtf!! so I opened it up again and reconnected the graphics card again (I thought it might be loose)
but same shit...

I uninstalled my graphic driver so I can atleast use the pc, I can run on 1280x1024 fine but you know... without the driver I can't play games or work on my 3d stuff etc.

is there a way to fix this (I am almost certain there is no way to fix it)
or should I just go ahead and buy myself a new graphics card, if so? what do you guys recommend

yeah I know, I always triple check the cables in case of emergency
and I have dual view and both screens have the same problems... and I deinstalled the drivers.. if it was the cable it still would have shown the problems

Hm how does the bios screen look? Do you have a linux boot cd or smth?

Buuut, screwed colors and freezing does indicate temp problems, I had once (long time ago). Get better cooling, or if it's too late, a new card (and this time make sure it doesn't overheat).

I had something similar once. One of the thingy-mah-bobs on the card (the bigger cylinder things ) had come loose due to bad soldering, meaning that normal idling was fine, but as soon as I booted a game, I was replied with crazy colours and patterns...and i loved my 9800 pro

new card is the way to go....so many deals these days, you could probably buy a beast of a card for a reasonable price.

If you're looking for something cheap then get one of the low end ATI 5000 series cards. They'll have the best performance for the price.

yeah delta told me to go for a ATI Radeon™ HD 5770

its only €141, and he told me its way better then the 9800 for €126

1 thing I need to know tho.. I've heard stories about ATI messing up hammer? it that true or just a myth

yeah the units when you are measuring out a brush on the grid go a bit funny, nothing major. Its something to do with Windows 7 i think though as I didnt have the problem on XP

I don't think it's operating system based. It's a problem with anti-aliasing that you can fix. Just search around the forums if you get it and you'll find a solution.
