WMM audio issues

Postby elemenz on Wed May 26, 2010 11:05 am

About windows movie maker, running on WinXP

when I move around video clips, trying to preview them with their original (movie) sound track muted,
I get a lot of "ffdshow audio decoder" icons coming and going at the bottom right,
on my program tracking corner (where the clock is etc.)

These things really slow everything down and all I can tell is that they are somehow related to the audio properties and editing those video and song files in WMM.

Can't even close or shut them down...
Anyone got a clue wtf?

*edit*

Furthermore, I'm doing intense fast editing, cuts that last only 0,10 - 0,20 secs, and WMM won't even zoom in close enough so I could edit the clips with enough precision, really taking the piss out of my inspiration I'm having right now...

Anyone knows a good free tool that's simple like WMM that doesn't require you to read a 500 page manual ?

This reminds me of how a couple of weeks ago, a girl in my class asked me how she could unfreeze WMM so that she wouldn't lose 4 hours of work when her deadline was about 5 hours away. I had to give her a dull, mournful look and tell her the bad news:

"It's WMM, don't even try using that shit, I've been through this stage long ago: it's just a diabolical piece of crap and the only program I have ever used that actually managed to bluescreen my PC on it's own strength."

I now relay that truth to you. As for a decent program that is easy to use... apparently Sony Vegas? I've tried Premier Pro, and I managed to get some good stuff out of it but it takes commitment to learn how to do anything in it.
