SDK Not Working?? (HELP)

Postby feinslayer on Sun Jun 27, 2010 7:28 am

Hey interlopers,
Since the CSS update as far as i am aware there was a SDK update and ever since then SDK doesn't work for me anymore. I click to run it, then it comes up with "Preparing to launch SDK" then nothing after that. It just doesn't start up.

If anyone can help that would be much appreciated. Oh and i have even tried re installing it and nothing fixed it.

Cheers

Mine starts up fine but I can't map for CSS anymore or compile models for it. I was going to compile a weapon for CSS but GUIstudioMDL wasn't working all of the sudden. Usually that happens when a game gets a big update (CSS in this case), and I have to reset the game configurations in the SDK. That's when the CSS configuration disappeared.

@OP - I started a thread on this with the answer, should have tried searching ;)

However, cos I'm nice I'll restate here.

1) go to steamapps/steamname/sourcesdk
2) delete the 'bin' folder
3) start up Source SDK from Steam

It should completely replace the bin folder, and work - from what I could tell SourceSDK is having trouble reading the 'tier0.dll' so deleting the folder and restarting SourceSDK rebuilds it.

Back up your bin folder just in case!

I had to recompile one of my earlier maps for the new engine. SKD didn't work at first, I had to reset game configurations for all engines and then it suddenly started to work without a problem.

Hey guys, hate for this to be my first post on the forums, but for some reason I just can't get the L4D2 authoring tools to load up. Have followed all the instructions as posted above, and the Source SDK is running fine now, just whenever i launch L4D2 authoring tools, the launching window pops up then just straight out disappears... any suggestions?
