Postby jgoodroad on Wed Jul 07, 2010 4:06 pm

hey, I have been thinking about making one of those new Hammer time lapse videos that are ALL the rage now-a-days...
But what software do I need to get in order to record said Lapse?

Epic idea.
But from what I understand most have been done as screenshots from one place.
Basically create a slab of nodraw and put the start there, then each time you make something new, boot up the map, take a pic and later slam em together into a movie :smt023

Well you could use Fraps for it, if its the demo it leaves watermark on the video.

So i suggest you use the full version. I made this using fraps.

Use something called Windows Media Encoder.

It records anything and everything live; however, it's also a bit of a monster.

:(

EDIT: anything that is easier to use? I tried the program and it might as well tried to explode my computer... and as far as my knowledge of the WME all I was able to do was save an encoding session... and fail... hard.

I got it working pretty easily, but admittedly it was chug-a-lugging with Photoshop. Computer was not happy, but it was lag-free.

Otherwise, there's plenty of screen capture programs out there, but WME works best for me.

Theres CamStudio its a sort of open source version of Camtasia Studio. It seems to work pretty well.
