Which manufacturer should I go with? [HD5770]

Postby RefaelBA on Wed Jul 07, 2010 11:06 pm

I've been checking out the Radeon HD5770 1GB. I found a lot of different manufacturers that make the card, and I have no clue which one to choose.

Here's a list of all the options.

PowerColor and HIS seem the cheapest, but they're getting nice reviews on NewEgg from purchasers.
XFX and Gigabyte cost a bit more, and then the prices go up. There's a nice version called Hawk by MSI, they OC'ed the core x4. Pretty crazy.

I don't have a lot of money, I was planning on spending ~$150 and not much more. Maybe $160. I don't know PowerColor or HIS, are they any good? Like I said, they got positive reviews. What's the difference between Gigabyte and xFx? They seem to be exactly the same.

I have heard that XFX is a great way to go, apparently the customer support is fantastic.

Other than that, I would say that any brand will do if the reviews are nice and it's within your price range.

Besides you can RMA if the card is DOA, and that's what's great about newegg...

I've had great experiences with the Sapphire cards I've bought. I can't speak for the other brands.

Oh, yeah, I have bought sapphire before. Wasn't bad, it died, but that was my fault, I let the fan get dusty, but it was an old old card.

Now I hear that some cards from the 4xxx series are actually better.
I don't mind passing on the DX11 features, I'd like better performance. Have you heard anything about this?

I ended up taking the 4890.
Now let's all pray real hard that it gets to my relatives before the July 14th. Because on the 14th they're taking a flight to visit me and they should bring this card with them!

Well, good luck... I've had cards take 2 weeks to get to me...

It's a shipment from NYC to NYC so I'm trying to be optimistic. Amazon said it would take 3-5 days.

Ah.. well any one else who sees this, i would have said XFX because i have this card, and its awe amazing, can play ANY thing on the maximum settings period. Great card, very cool, very smooth running. Awesome.

XFX are closing down. They're keeping customer support up for the warranty period of cards still in stock at stores, but once they're gone, it's over.

EDIT: Or was it BFG?

how is it taking so long to get a graphic card shipped? In canada, if you pay " express shipping" you get it in 1 to 2 business days and the store is on the west coast ( Vancouver ) Imo ground shipping suck and you just double/triple the chance you get your package damaged. Gogo airplanes!
