Bootcamp on Macbook Pro Problems

Postby HorseMachine on Fri Aug 06, 2010 8:35 am

Hey guys, not sure who else has experience on this issue, but I'm trying to find out my best options...

So my Macbook Pro has currently got Windows 7 running on it through Bootcamp. My main significant problem is it constantly crashes (seems to be overheating) when I actually load up a game/map from Steam to test and work on. The SDK is absolutely fine, and plenty fast enough. Its just when the game loads up it after a few minutes the screen goes blank, and the audio chatters like a skipping CD, only thing I can do is turn off the computer by the power button.

Now is this definitely an overheating issue? I've read about people having similar issues, and saying its the CPU overheating. If so what are my best options? Do these cooling plates actually work? I don't want to have to spend £40 or so on something that does nothing. I'm weighing up making a desktop machine just for game work but again thats a significant amount of money...

Any advice would be gratefully received

Get a desktop, my white macbook tops at 100C when doing video exporting, but normally tops around 80-90C, which is way too much

Eitherway, vista runs fine here, even with CSS at 4x AA and all on high, no idea about temprature though. just be sure to not having it on a soft surface(blanket or so) and try stacking something under it to help it cool
Source is my way of life, if i didn't have it, i'd be tearing down walls and altering my house all the time.
