Looking for specific program for LAN gaming

Postby Notary on Sun Sep 19, 2010 11:12 am

I tried Hamachi, Wippien, Tunngle, Gameranger and Garena so far.

However, I have a wi-fi router that connects a few other devices at my home. Because of this router, I can't use any of them except Garena because they say "your connection is behind a Symmetric NAT router". I tried port forwarding but that didn't fix the problem.

So, are there any Garena-like programs that will allow me to play LAN without me having to do something with my router?

Can you elaborate a bit on what do you want to do and what stops you from doing that? Because I don't know if you are trying to play games with PCs on your LAN, of if your are trying to emulate a LAN between your PC and remote PCs that are somewhere before your router.

I'm trying to emulate LAN between me and some other computer that is not in my home network to play games, but every single program I use complains about NAT, except Garena.

ok first i dont think any kind of a vpn/p2p client is going to work for that. I think for what you are trying to do you should make and a ssh server with freeSSHd and have your friend connect to your server with a good client like putty. I used to do this at school to use my home internet and get through the filter but this should work here too. Also you will always have to do something with your router for this unless you just hook you pc right up to your modem.

hope this helps :D

here the links

1) I don't see why Hamachi wouldn't work
2) I don't see why you don't want to use port forwarding. The easiest solution would be to put our computer in the DMZ of your router (or forward all ports from your router to your PC).
