Fps problems with wireless?

Postby iTrump on Wed Dec 22, 2010 9:35 pm

Ok on my laptop I have wireless internet at the moment but im planning on getting wired. So I was noticing when i just create a server such as on css my fps i alright. But when I join a server on the same map with low amount of players and low ping I have horrible fps.

Could this be caused by wireless internet?

I don´t think so.The only games that I have heard would make your fps affect the server gameplay is quake and quake 2.
But the only thing I can think of is that maybe some windows/anti-virus scan goes on when you use internet in ways they don´t like :D

fps =/= ping, so no. Altho the human eye can receive much information, anything above 30 frames per second should look fluid enough without stuttering.

Even with few players multiplayer games are a little more taxing on your cpu, causing lower fps. The actual rendering of stuff shouldn't really be affected by a few extra players. Is your cpu the bottleneck? Try decreasing graphic quality (eg hdr) to see if that impacts fps much. If it doesn't the cpu is the bottleneck, otherwise its probably the gpu, for which i can think of no explanation.

Well i know what the problem is. I have intel graphics but I just wanted to know if wireless would make me loss more fps.
