I'm in some deep ****

Postby ofaas on Mon Nov 07, 2011 7:09 pm

I've really fucked up with the bios on my machine. It wouldn't boot the OS from my hard drive so I went into the advanced menu in my bios setup and changed the video input from my PCI E slot to my onboard graphics adapter just to ensure that the problem wasn't being caused by the new graphics card I recently bought. After that whenever I turn my PC on I get nothing on my monitor. Just black. Is there any way to revert the changes I made or I am screwed? Thanks in advance.

most motherboards have a reset switch or jumper. Else, just boot once without bios battery.

Are you sure that, when you changed your gpu to the onboard didn´t forgot to change the monitor plug to the one in the mobo? :D

captain hindsight reporting:

you should have checked how to reset bios first before changing the settings.

do you have jumpers on your motherboard to reset bios configuriations? otherwise pull out the battery for a a minute and then put it back in. most times this helps resetting bios. do you ave dual bios installed? cause if you have, the bios will reload the standart settings after rebooting the pc several times in a row(maybe 5 or 6 times after the pc is running for 10-20 secs).
hope that helps.
Enjoy your Kartoffelsuppe!
