Morgellon's disease

Postby Biological-Bum on Thu May 18, 2006 7:10 pm

I was browsing through the internet yesterday and found out that there's a strange disease going on called Morgellon's disease. Truly strange, but very serious. I'm quite sure this isn't some hoax or anything like that. Go type "Morgellon's disease" in some search thing and you'll probably find things about it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morgellon%27s_Disease

Morgellons or Morgellons disease is a controversial name for a polysymptomatic syndrome characterized by the patient's presentation of intense itching, skin lesions and the patient's claim of finding unusual structures, fibers or objects in or on the skin as well as a wide range of other chronic symptoms. These symptoms are occasionally accompanied by the belief in infestation by some unknown arthropod or parasite.

sounds like it's part real, part in your mind? or something?

EDIT >>
I've read through some more of it, apparently it's about 'fibers' coming out of your skin paired with, well the person going crazy about it (which I can very well imagine)

it's all kinda vague and everybody seems to define it differently

There apparently is little known about this disease. People don't know where it comes from or how to cure it. The doctors seem to say it's all in the patients' minds because they don't know what the heck it is.

a famous quote from a fellow student:

It's not written about in Harrisons. And if it aint written about in Harrisons, its not a disease.

(fyi, Harrisons is the bible of medecine)

I think there is sone truth in the quoted quote, thats why i quoted the quote[/quote]

yea, that second site looks *cough* "REALLY" *cough* believable... it just looks some random moron took pictures of fibres, it could be anything ...

And also saying on your first page IT IS REAL! makes it really not worth looking at...

"TAUROX was the answer!!!

I had been pretty much disabled for the past several
years, not able to work at all, or minimal part time work,
so I worked for myself.
For about 5 months of 2005 I was on an antibiotic
regimen of what many consider to be the "Schwartz
Protocal" of Septra DS and Avelox. The first 3 weeks
was perhaps the hardest thing I've ever done in this life.
Eventually, I got about 80% better, until things leveled
off at that point. (Biltricide, Ivermectin, Albendazole and
Diflucan is now recommended with the Antibiotics by
some). "

Its just a freaking advertising for fake meds/drugs to make those wicked american people feel better (notice the site that this "deseize is most known in the USA)

Just posting something that seems interesting that may be real, although a bit too strange to be completely credible.

It said on Wikipedia that the most vunerable demographic is teachers and nurses - which makes me think that it is probably relataed to stress or exhaustion.

those skin fibres look quite weird, but i think that guy's foot was just a really bad case of athletes foot which had got infected - if you look at the damaged skin it is black, meaning it has died like frostbite, and then around it is yellowy pus where the body is trying to fight the infection.

have you ever stayed up really late for a couple of nights in a row and started feeling all paranoid and twitchy? I reckon that's what it is.

But I'm no doctor so i could be completely wrong.
