I assume the end of the earth and the end of humanity is one in the same. Personally, I don't see humans surviving on another planet, we evolved for this planet, we would die anywhere else.
Life on earth will probably be reduced after a huge piece of space rock hits it...

Highly unlikely at this point in time. We have too many humans scanning the sky for us not to notice and do something about it. People are racing to find these type of objects, from professionals to amateurs, there is glory for the discovery.
Something to think about is if we do get hit, there is not an asteroid big enough (in this solar system) to destory the Earth, but it could for sure wipe out the surface.
