It's a project to harness the power of unused computers to crunch numbers, calculate the physics of protein unfolding and various other things that help researchers gain data useful in their area of research.

Distributed computing in other words.

http://folding.stanford.edu/

You download a program to help researchers gain data that would take them ages to gather. Many computers working together as one supercomputer.

The projects are pretty cool too, including research about cancer treatment.

I've started an interlopers team and I'll join the gang in distributed computing soon when my rig arrives.

For now, we're team 53520. Make sure you put it in when it asks you for your team #.

I wonder if this is the same project a read about a while a go or a new one copying the idea (copying as in. It's a really cool idea and worked very well rather then "zomg they stolez it.)

I think it's a damn fine way to use the internet.

Yeah sweet little app. This is an old one, been around for least 5 years or more as far as I know. IIRC, the only one older is the seti@home one.

There's already a cure for cancer, its just society and doctors are too narrowminded to learn about it, then actually believe and study it.

Its not that doctors are fools, its that this "cure" hasn't even been tested yet.

Sad thing is we can cure every mouse out there, but only 1/3 of the treatments transfers to humans, if even that much.

That has nothing to do what with IM talking about.

Water, exercise, and electricity combined are the ways to get rid of cancer cells. negative ions are the key ingrediant for electricity.
