Nothing wrong with it if you can actually find a use for it. Besides it looks pretty cool.

I'm not against it, but I dont really see the point of it. it doesnt really add any value or innovation imho, and of course there's the monoculture argument: break this gadget and you've broken all your gadgets...drain your battery playing music, and you can't make a call.

I doubt it'll suceed really, unless the internet stuff is really good.

i would rather have seen them use the same screen and format to make a better video ipod (so basically what it is now, but no phone/camera/internet/pds bollocks)

Once again Steve Jobbs has taken someone else's product, dummed it down, taken out the best features, jacked up the price, wrapped it in a white bow tie, and could it "new, innovative, the future" and worse of all "an invention."

I can't believe some news people are calling it "revolutionary" so what if it has a pretty screen, it has a rediculous price to match. AND the put it on the slowest WWAN network in the US, AND you can't put any programs on it, AND, it has a horrible battery life, AND it's all DRM'd out.

Now I'm not gonna buy a realy smartphone/pda whatever, but I'm even more not going to by this new iToy, I'll just stick with my basic LG simple phone and its 48 hour battery life and whip out my tablet if I really need to get on the internet in my car. The screens better

When compared to the competition everything you just said is flat out wrong.

Not sure if I need one, since I don't actually use phones a lot, but I quite love it and wouldn't mind having one. My pockets are always loaded with my wallet, keys, tissues, mp3 player, cellphone and some of my friends can add a PDA to that list. I wouldn't mind stripping three of the biggest things in that list down to one item.

Although its a shame to see the iPhone being put down by so many people who think they know what the product is all about by just looking at it, without knowing anything about it. The most popular argument is for example "oh great, so when I listen to a few tunes and watch a movie the battery is dead and I can't phone anymore". While the iPhone's battery is split in two so you can watch and listen all you want while always having reserve energy to make a 5 hour phone call. As for the price, all the smartphones that come close to the functionality of the iPhone cost just about as much.

Its a shame there's no 3G support as of yet, but that doesn't mean there will never be any. When the iPhone is introduced in Europe in many months you will probably see it in the technical details of the phone.

Are you saying the iPhone isn't slim and pretty?
The iPhone doesn't allow the user to do the same things and then some that other smart phones can do as well?
The well designed menu's don't allow you to get around quickly by the touch of your finger?

Alright, the price is debatable, but this is the Serious Discussion forum, if you want to make blatant remarks please put some comments and explanations as to why you think he's so flat out wrong.

The funny thing is Cisco registered the iPhone name and has filed a lawsuit against Apple apple because they are using their trademark.

Cisco registered the iPhone thingy (if i remember correct) in 1996, before apple started to use the i prefix.

Apple knew about this, but still announced the iPhone...
