Well it's 100-200 usd more, in the usa its only available on cingular's slowest wwan (the new 3G), you cannot load new applications onto it, and imo the apple 'design' looks stupid and ugly (of course thats just my opinion)

many alternatives allow finger-touch, and like I said my phone has a 48 hour battery life and doesnt need replacing after a year and a half (although usually apple does it for free)

you also have to pay for every minute of phone tech support with apple

600$? no one charges that much, and if they do, you can easily get it cheaper

no one here has held it (unless you have and then only 15 minutes which is not enough time for a review) so we know nothing anout menu layout

what really bothers me is jobbs says he invented it, he didnt, its a worse mousetrap. he also claims its the first one to use a real computer os. wake up jobbs, stop ripping of your customes and shareholders, and please go away

I find the attitutde towards Apple interesting. Now bare in mind i'm not condeming or defending them. I've never really been bothered by apple products.

But a few years a go the trend seemed to be to back up Apple because it was the underdog to microsoft. Not they are really in the megabucks people seem to be just as dismissive of them as they are of microsoft.

Your twisting his words though. He never said he invented the phone, he stated that the iPhone means to re-invent the way we look at phones. You can't really make such a big deal out of that either, its simple publicity and marketing, it doesn't change anything about the product. Every manufacturer will in some way or the other try to put its product in the spotlight and show its better than the others.

And yes, the iPhone does use a very dumbed down OS X build, in the sense that it uses Quartz Extreme, H.264, etc...

Besides, you don't need to have held the iPhone to observe how the entire menu system works, you can easily watch the keynote and see Jobs step by step showing & telling the menu system by his own hand.

people'll buy anything with i-.... now.
and besides, this thing is probably more of a gadget, "look how frakkin rich I am" etc.

might as well buy a normal phone, or a laptop for that matter.

It's an impressive piece of hardware, I'll give them that. However, the OS is apparently very sluggish, which is sad, plus the locked format keeps it from acting like an actual smartphone. Also sad. Lastly, has anyone here ever used a phone where you touch the screen to dial? Annoying. As. Hell. Still, it's pretty if ridiculously expensive.

I'm really not much of an apple fan (their computers are great, but not for gaming, and they make you use iTunes. Ew). This iPhone is a really bad idea if you ask me. So if every other phone with an mp3 player, internet, a full keyboard, email, etc. IT'S A PHONE, YOU CALL PEOPLE WITH IT, NOT CHECK YOUR EMAIL AND SURF THE WEB. Seriously. My phone is about 1/4 that things size and I love it. No camera, no internet, just a phone. If you tried sticking that iPhone into your pocket it would cause you to tilt to one side and you would end up walking in a big circle due to the fact that it weighs 50 TIMES MORE THAN A PHONE SHOULD. (exaggeration). Anyway, that's my view on the iPhone. And every other phone-that's-more-than-just-to-call-people.

it doesn't seem that expensive only $800 in aus i think but i hate how some people fight apple being this top shit crap. There actually inst any new technology on this phone all that crap has been out before. and it looks like a fucking brick
