we can brag about how long we've been mapping etc.
but what counts is, "are you having fun?"

which, I'm sure everybody has, because we wouldn't be here if we hadn't had fun mapping.

probably...

If you didn't think it was fun to map you'd quit before you were able to say "This sucks! I hate mapping!".

Well, basically I think it comes down to character, to some degree of course age as well. Some mature faster than other, some never do. I dont usually put little "kidz" into the brat group automatically, as I had my first clan with 14 ( ). If a person acts immature/dumb, he does. If not; great, no matter what age.

I imagine a lot of youngsters can prove themselves these days just as you have but people have a very stereotypical and often condesending look at young adults on the internet, just the way it is.

Personally I use the term as a put down for anyone, just in a fun way really. Like if I get banned from a BF2 server for nothing (frequent these days) then to me all the admins are immediately 12 years old :P

You'll never get away from stereotypes, but you've proved yourself to have valued and informed posts at a young age and I commend you for that.

At 12 I didn't know what a forum was, or even the internet really. So good on you.

And the act has a lot to do with maturity as well, if you have a 12 year old thats out of control and a nut, he is going to do the same thing online.... except he knows no one can do a thing about it.

me too (20 in a month), act like im 10 (sometimes). I think the big problem is that obnoxious 12 yr olds are obviously 12 from what they say, so some people assume all obnoxious people are 12

blink: did they have the internet when you were 12? for some reason i assumed you were like 30-40 :D

My little brother is so irritating. my friend little (gaming) brother is very irritating.

but then again, i remember back when I used to play on the NS server PFF (VERY close knit comunity, great games) one of the members was a 12 year old girl. It was halarious the kind of mic chatter that when on in games, but she could kick the asses of alot of us there and was more mature than most of them.

you cant judge someone by their age, but it still true that most under 16's are very immiture online. but its how they learn, so... meh

I am 13 and I have to admit everyone once and a while I do something stupid, but people just make it worse by picking on you about your age when there only 1 year older then you! so yes some teens are idiots but it just because this is there first experience on the internet they just need time to improve, except for css and other mp game hacker's I think they should just rot in hell

I'm 22

I didn't get the net at home for a long time when I was younger and in a way I'm quite happy, because I had no where to upload my god awful maps and get raped backwards for it.

Although it was tricky learning without tutorials..

hehe I'm 16

is that the magical age where we suddenly become more mature? because, i have felt the same about gaming ever since i started.

also the length of time u have spent mapping doesn't really matter. i mean i have been mapping for what like 3 years now, I'm still learning new things. i only learn't to func_detail stuff about 6 months ago!

although one of my group of friends is a year younger than us (15) and no one will play gmod with him when we have lan parties. mainly because he spawn-spams the huge smoke stack. and the server crashes. we put the server back up, and he does it again. its not a good look lol.
