How big of a health risk is a wii?

Postby supaste on Fri Jan 19, 2007 7:30 pm

Ok i have heard loads of stories about the nintendo wii.. and i am thinking about getting one when they drop down in price a bit (even though their quite cheap atm)but i have heard loads of stories about things happening when in use... here are a few..

*repetitive strain injury- dont know how likey this is...

*wrist straps breaking all the time- i have been told this is not uncommon and the wiimote then goes flying and hits some thing.. and breaks.

And there is one story that my dad told me only the other day of someones wii costing them a extra £600 ontop of all the games and shit.. (i will now point out that my dad is a vet) while jumping and waving around on his wii this guy stood on his cat (lawl) and broke its leg or spine or summin ( =0 )

so... if i get a wii and use it am i and eveyone/thing around me in danger?

It's not.

All the stories you are hearing are from either people who never get any physical activity thus break easily, or people who believe their dorm is the superdome and they can flail about at ease

The Wii straps were breaking due to people continuely flinging the remote. I'd beat money on the fact that most of those who've had broken Wii straps probably threw the remote a bunch of times before and it didn't break on them.

If you play Wii Tennis, like REALLY play Wii tennis, then you can actually get tennis elbow. Happend to me. :P

Also, my friends were playing boxing on mine and my friend 'd right hook took the cord between the Nunchuk and the wii controller and it flew at the tv, though the Wii controller stayed in hand. (Strap)

tbh, you have to either be a complete fool to step on your cat, throw the remote and other things, or be some sweaty grease ball. ive had no trouble and neither has anyone else i know. it's only a couple of hundred people out of the hundreds of thousands who do have one anyway

Here's a little life lesson for all, something that happened early january.

Me and 3 of my mates have nintendo wii's. Another one of our mates, without a wii held a party, so one of my mates took his wii and 2 remotes round to their house.

Another friend, called Ben, had used a wii once before. Being the idiot that he is, he flings it like a fucking nutter on wheels! Anyways, he managed to smash a lightbulb, leaving us too all tidy up the pieces. None of us were injured. (Minor glass wounds when tidying up.) Anyways, the strap did not break, and like I said, you have too be as pathetic as my mate too do this, and I'm posting him the link too this post now!!!

My part to ending the argument...

Have you ever heard of the super blender from willitblend.com? This is an industrial blender, runs at 400mph @ top speed? No. Well, go here, watch some of the videos, and watch marbles be turned too dust...
http://www.willitblend.com/

Now, you would expect this kind of machine, to completely obliterate the wiimote, wouldn't you. Errrr....

Please note at the end that strap is still there!

The straps are simple to replace and were fixed for PAL (AUS) release.

I meant to actually say you can have a replacement strap for free of charge.
