Left 4 Dead Mapping Consideration

Postby EagleStrike on Wed Jan 24, 2007 9:23 pm

With another game coming out in the next few weeks/months, I'd like too hear people's opinions about what their considerations are on this topic.

When DOD:S came out, nobody knew how it would really play, due too lack of information pending it's release. The moment it came out, maps quickly started spawning across the web as downloads.

With Left 4 Dead coming out, thanks to magazines like PC Gamer and magazines like it, we cna practically guess what the situation is going too be in this game, and we can get an idea of where it is heading.

Therefore, I put this question too you...would anyone out there also consider constructing Left 4 Dead maps at this time? Please fill in the poll if you have a chance, and maybe comment.

I'm gonna wait until I know more about this game before I make my choice...

I'm going to wait until I get it and play it for a while. No information on how to map for it will substitute knowing the game play and works and doesn't work like playing it first hand.

I'd like to see some good looking maps from them first, shocked by the lack of any good screenshots of maps. :?

I'd do it beforehand, now that I think of it.

I'll wait for a little more information though.

It would be cool to release a really good cummunity map pack. It's a good way to get yourself portfolio work if your thinking about modding. It's a good example of team-work and a mod evironment

Odd that you say this because I was considering it, it's always good to get a map out there at the exact same time as a mod is released; it could so easily be picked up on as an official map by those less knowledgable [If you pull it off] But as people have said there's a lot of ifs and buts.

People could map for CSS [or at least plan it out] cause there wouldn't be any major changes in the gameplay, I personally know nothing about L4D and wouldn't want to spend a month or more making a map that would ultimately look great and play awfully because I wasn't entirely sure of HOW it should play.

I'm indecisive.

Maybe we can just wait for the game to be released then start mapping for it?
