If it hits an ocean we're fucked, if it hits the ground, we're fucked. The after-effects of something that big are what kills people, not the initial impact. A lot of people will die unless we get off Earth, fast.

Sorry mate but that's bollocks. You're right that the after effects would be terrible and would cause the most damage. But the whole. WE MUST LEAVE THE PLANET, thing is a bit far and not needed at all. the aftermath of such an impact would cause a lot of problems similar to large volcanic eruptions (I mean large volcanic eruption, Krakatoa, Monserat etc) might be more but it would be the automatic destruction of our species.
