It is *NEVER* the government's job to take care of you.

It is YOUR job to take care of YOURSELF, because YOU CAN DO IT BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE.

CCTV is entirely unnecessary. It only exists when law abiding citizens are not allowed to carry weapons to defend themselves from harm, which gives the government yet another excuse to increase it's own power.

A well armed populous is the single best solution against violent crime.

Here are some of the Safest cities/states in the world:

Kennesaw GA, USA
Boston, MA USA
New Hampshire, USA
Montana, USA
Texas, USA

Why? Loose gun laws. If everyone is packing heat, no terrorist or criminal or other violent nutjob is *EVER* stupid enough to start trouble because he knows he'll get shot by anyone and everyone around him.

Listen, The government never has your safety in mind.

Let me repeat that; the government NEVER has your safety in mind; only the increase in its own power.

YOUR job as a citizen is to keep that power in check and maintain your personal boundary or else your rights will be taken away.

The term "freedom isn't free" is not talking about soldiers at war, its talking about YOU.

1984 isn't far fetched; we're already living in parts of it.

Solution? Vote ONLY for candidates who want to empower YOU and LESSEN THE SIZE OF GOVERNMENT.

Yeah, eliminating unnecessary expenses and empowering individuals to start thier own businesses and get rich on thier own terms instead of slaving for the government is SO financially stupid

I agree. However, in any place in any town or city across the world there is always someone ready to take out vengeance on those around them no matter the cost. To be honest, in Blighty (england) 14-20 yr olds around where I live have taken to carrying knives out of fear of those around them. I myself carry a variety of "weapons" that aren´t really weapons. E.G. a pair of carabiners on a sling, as an improvised kosh. A lighter and some flammables. a short length of pipe.

The lax gun laws, if emplaced over here, would ultimately lead to about 2-5 months of brutal slaughter as the rough street gangs struggle to emplace themselves on the top of the areas round here. Talking cctv, not lax gun laws, will help to keep us safe-er than if we allow every person to own a weapon. These sorts of suggestions are infinitely preferable to the gun laws of, example, texas, as these gun laws would leave people like me in possesion of a brutally deadly weapon. I have extreme anger problems, and as such if i was armed with a gun would find no problem in pinning someone to the floor and holding it to the back of their head in an aim to empower myself.

Glad you asked :D

Aside from the fact that I have lived near Kennesaw GA, In Texas, Visited New Hampshire & Boston, and nary a gunshot nor CCTV camera nor robbery nor cry for help can be found there, here you go...

Rather than posting an endless series of links, simple google links will suffice. Its almost entirely unanimous, just read the sources provided:

Kennessaw: Gun Laws Proven Success
http://www.google.com/search?q=kennesaw+ga+gun+laws&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Boston: Low Crime rate and its attributes
http://www.google.com/search?q=boston+massachusetts+crime+rate&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

New Hampshire Violent Crime Rate Third LOWEST in the Country:
http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=G0g&q=new+hampshire+violent+crime+rate&btnG=Search

Texas violent crime rate
http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=D5g&q=texas+violent+crime+rate&btnG=Search

Texas Gun Laws: Mixed Bag
http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=n4g&q=texas+gun+laws&btnG=Search

(Edit: Seems I was admittedly somewhat wrong about this one. Texas USED to have a very low crime rate back when I lived there but apparently things have changed. However, further examination notes high violent crime rate due to a much wider variety of factors including, not just gun control laws, so there are other things at work here. Still, in support of my original argument, you will notice that there has been a lot of back-and-forth legal motions in regards to gun ownership in Texas, which could explain a lot. While this scenario does not debunk my original arguments, it's worth looking into. Examine carefully for yourself).

I just want freedom.....

I don't get the argument how everyone having a gun can be better than everyone not having one.

I mean, it's very simple; Do you need the ability to kill anyone at any time?

Does everyone else also need this ability?

No. I'd rather have a few directed violent crimes (As we have here in Sweden) than everyone accidentally shooting eachother, getting drunk and shooting eachother and accidentally shooting themselves (faulty gun or just plain stupid).

Guess I won this quite easily. Look, I didn't even use any sources or references!

Well we may have a lot of gun crimes (and I agree, I don't think we need guns) but must people never experience that, we also have a big population.

I'm not sure about the exact population, but if I did my math right, I think one in every 18,778 people were murdered by a gun in 2004, so it's very unlikely your going to get shot I guess.

I've only had one pointed at me once and I just put my face in the dirt. My fault for getting in that situation though, shouldn't have ignored my instincts.

But I wish we didn't have hand guns, they are useless.
