Ooook!

@SlappyBag

What you are saying is basically people should respect cops more, so cops should use more force to get people to respect their authority? WTF?

"people who don't respect the police should be punished"

Cops are supposed to punish? Since when? Even if they should be punished for not respecting the police, its not up to the police to do that when they see fit. The police is FORBIDDEN to punish or deal out justice as they see fit. Thats why we have courts - remember that nice little triangle you learned about in school? Legislative, judicial, and executive powers. The police should not punish, and if I seem to go over the top with this its because I think its extremely important. Its the basics of democracy.

It is a big deal, really, relatively speaking of course. Its a big deal when this kind of thing happens more and more, and Im not just talking about the police in the USA. You have to uphold these principles so that it doesnt get out of control.

@Meotwister.

Ok, he yelled. Did he seem like psycho about to start punching people? I dont think so, but then again Im not trained for stuff like that. I did notice immediately however that he raised his arms all the time, almost signaling that he wasnt doing anything with them. You cannot use preemptive force without proper reason. If he had gotten angry I would totally agree with you. And I totally agree that police should stop people before they get out of hand, if they have a proper reason to believe that could happen. In this case I dont see it. He was jumping around like a kid. Shoot him, he might kill somebody! :P (danger - exaggeration)

My point about the taser was that it made absolutely no difference. Is anyone claiming that the cops wouldnt have gotten the cuffs on him without him being tasered? Also, about stopping someone from being disruptive; he yelled loudly while being tasered. I would call that disruptive. Did you see it making him more compliant? It wouldve been quicker to just get him out. That big guy pushed him up the stairs pretty quickly, altho I must admit he didnt seem to have much against it as he pretty much jumped along.

Him trying to avoid arrest is also not a reason to act like the cops did. People have been known to resist arrest before without planning to go psycho on everyone in the room, especially when theyre acting more like a class-clown than a dangerous thug.

You say its not official because he they didn't say they were going to arrest him, well, by the sound of it, he certainly had that impression. "Don't arrest me".

Maybe the purpose of what they were doing was wrong, I agree, but the way they did it... there was nothing wrong with it. They gave him warnings, people who don't respect the police should be punished, they are meant to be there to keep the force and recently, in the last 20 years or something people seem to hate them. Therefore, they need to show their power tbh. Tasering is a pretty simple, non-lethal method, in England they wouldn't of done it, because as far as I know they just don't seem to use them that often. They had to get him out of there to stop the disruption and it seemed to work.

As I said before, the reasons for taking him "under authority" were in the wrong, but the way they did it was fine by me. Except they really should of stated "Sorry but we are arresting you" or whatever, before they grabbed him. Meh. No big deal really, so a lad got tased, meh.

Do note, I'm British, and I feel that our culture needs more respect for the cops. If this is going on all the time as stated then its really bad, but if its a one off thing then meh @ it.

Okay I must say this again. Florida cops and rent-a-cops are not normal cops. They are the Waffen SS in disguise. Cops in my book here are not respected. I have many stories to share with you all so heres just one. There were some folks here in Florida that were being threatened over the phone for a period of a few days. They called the cops. The cops did not do anything about it. Later that night they were murdered. When shit like that happens cops lose respect from me and most of Florida. Florida also has different laws on how you can handle events like this. I just thought the strange coincidence with the question that he asked and their actions was rather odd. Like they were hiding something. But yeah back to my point in Florida we have shoot to kill rights it is a southern thing I guess and you need em with the police being pants on head retarded. So they can technically do whatever they need to do to get him off the property. But I have never heard that resisting arrest of a rent-a-cop is a 3rd degree felony. Also how is asking a question inciting a riot?

Guys seriously the more we argue about Florida the more nothing will happen. He got shocked, get over it. Poor guy we know. But something bad happens to people like this all the time. If you want something to be done. Run for governor or something.

I think it comes down to the purpose of law and order. Personnally, I believe that the laws and cops are there to implement society, rather than control it, it's like a funeral procession. If your in a funeral procession you get to run red lights, granted, you need a sticker and you drive slow, but that's one of our traditions and so the law makes provisions for that.

Yeah, he went over his time, it's not like he stole the mic from someone, and this wasnt the cops event. The cops were there to protect Kerry. It was Kerry's event. Kerry wanted to answer the questions. The decisions of how the guy should be dealt with is on Kerrys shoulders. Kerry decided he wanted to answer the questions, and he called off the cops. But the cops were bored so they kept going because they wanted to keep up an image.

Personnally, I don't care if the guy was a douche bag, it's all about the cops, and the cops did the opposite of what they should have done.

The guy was not tased ten times. He was tased once and you could tell that his scream he let out was a bit overdone. As far as I can tell being tased doesnt make you scream like that as I've had friends who've been tased.

The thing was a stunt setup by this guy. And yeah he basically did steal the mic from someone he cut to the front and forced his way in front of some girl i think to talk.

Yeah it was Kerry's event and he dropped the ball by not stopping them more effectively (though if he had the guy would've just kept screamin conspiracy babble) and instead you can hear him make a joke while the guy is getting tased.

Groundless speculation on behalf of the officers isn't gettin your point anywhere either. They may have not had as much training as a regular police officer (I dont know really) and they were doing what they thought they had to get him out of there and to keep the event going.

Again it goes beyond the guy being a dick.. he's being disorderly, and really you could see it as he's preventing the other people in the line from voicing their opinions to further his own agenda. Who the hell knows what's gonna happen when some guy is screamin almost hysterically across an auditorium full of people with a US Senator on the stage.

And really.. nothing happened to this guy.. he got tased.. big whoop. He's fine.. not like they beat him with clubs or shot him or something...

God, some conspiracy nut goes crazy in an auditorium and gets tased and everyone acts like it's the end of free speech in america.

You should try watching the videos before trying to say what happened.

Your right, my bad, he didn't get tazed ten times, he got tazed five times. You can hear it go off twice in this video, and five times in the one that was shot from nearer the back, on the other side of him.

I love it when I write posts thinking Im actually arguing with people, trying comprehend why they have opinions I cannot support/understand and my arguments arent even mentioned or confronted. Oh well, I guess this is it for me and serious discussions.

Last bit on topic to not make this pure spam:
its the principle that counts. This is not the end of free speech, or day one of a police state. Things like these go creepily, and you cant tolerate behavior like this from law enforcement (Im not saying the speaker dude shouldnt have been removed).

Oh I'm sorry he was tasered twice. Not five or ten times. And I should ask you take your own advice as well.

Point being.. he was well known for being a practical joker and liked to have ridiculous statements in his sports article he wrote to gain attention. I suppose this is the next logical step for him.

You could read a couple of eyewitness accounts that state when Kerry says he's going to leave after a few more questions.. this guy runs up to the front of the line while a couple of officers follow and then he jumps right in front and starts talking about how Kerry really won the 2004 election because of disenfranchised blacks and faulty voting machines, and how come we dont impeach bush? Clinton was impeached cause he had a blowjob. and weren't you in the skull & bones society at Yale with bush? mic was then cut.

He's asked to leave and he refuses and then the officers try to escort him out to which he overreacts and escapes. After a couple of more officers come down to help escort him out he continues to evade and almost taunt the officers into doing something. "What are you gonna do tase me?" being one of his quotes I believe. So he's basically dragged up the steps by the culmination of officers that went to get him and he's resisting and yelling when told repeatedly to calm down and cooperate then told that if he kept this up he would be tased. the guy continues on as if he ignored that screaming "why are you arresting me" and "what did I do" etc.

Kerry who had attempted to answer the guys questions when it all started kinda sat there only saying that he'd answer his questions... then later makes a joke about how he cant come up there to swear him in as president.

The guy's dragged out of the room and proceeds to struggle and yell whenever the camera is present and becomes cooperative and sympathetic towards the officers when there is no camera.

The guy, Meyer, had the intent of going into the place to get arrested. Played it up big time in front of the cameras and has appeared on talk shows and news reports nationwide since.
