haha...

People just think that everything we do on this earth has such a huge impact, because we think too highly of ourselves. Some people just don't understand that we have an infinitesimal impact on climate change. The earth changes on its own with nearly any human control.

Crying out loud...

-Is global warming happening? Yes.

-Caused by men? No.

-What then? The sun. Oh yea, check out all the other planets that are warming up also.
Whoopsie whoo what a coincident. (And if you wanna go deeper, you're not going to like it: planets are growing, expanding in volume, not like gaining mass, but this doesn't have anything to do with this post.)

-Pollution? Yes, that's what we should focus on. Getting resource management perfected, possibly cut down, at the same time also with population growth. More quality rather than amount, less is more.

So this "carbon emission fear mongering" is the most epic piece of bullshit they have ever shit down on us.
Anyone buying that crap can be really proud of themself.

Funny how the sheeple can play the conspiracy(?)- card like, "9/11 an inside job? You tinhats, gtfo..."
But when people try to explain GW isn't man made, THEN it's a big oil industry conspiracy for real, because: "you know... if we stop using oil, their incomes would drop, right ? So that's like why they lie to us and fake this *oh it's all about the sun spots* shit you see?"

Yea, I see. You're a fucking double standard moron sheeple with an IQ of 12, and probably also believe every word they've put in the bible huh ?

Kinda ironic how it made me feel to switch teams...
I've been anti-illuminati/ NWO for many years, trying to raise others awareness, but slowly starting to slip into questioning myself: would it really hurt the human species if all these fucking idiots died off?
Come to think of it, a 90% population reduction would actually hit the spot pretty well.
Bäääh.... BÄÄÄÄÄÄÄHÄHÄÄÄÄÄ. Was nice meeting you sheeples.

As our first order of business, I propose that the portmanteau "sheeple" be formally ousted from the English lexicon.

Alright, now that that's done, let's get back to global warming. I don't pretend to know everything, so I suggest a moderate stance on this issue. For one, there is no harm in practicing better energy habits. Go ahead, build more alternative fuel vehicles and recycle. However, don't punish people who don't prescribe, especially in a recession. Rather, slowly the market should be saturated in alternative fuels until maybe thirty years from now, 90% of cars are non-gasoline. You get me? Though, that being said, I'm not sure if it's global warming or just a part of a cycle or whatnot, but regardless, we have other big issues to worry about.

Just try to be moderate, that's all I'm saying. And sorry for contributing to a dying thread.

I agree, I just contacted the man in charge of language, and it has now been banned.

All wonderful points, I must admit that I don't know everything about it, so I really can't say how the earths condition will be in 30 years.

No harm in contributing. I honestly feel this thread shouldn't die because it is still a hot topic today in politics, and everyday life (discussion). I encourage everyone to promote or share their views on global warming, no matter how many times it's been repeated, or how extreme your ideas may be.

Time for me to run in and take the misanthropist and pessimistic point of view. Fuck the next generations, as long as theres enough for me and my kids I'll be fine. I'm fairly certain the 21st century is going down as the horrific dark ages of our time, so I won't be concerned if I tack on some more awful things they can pin to us in the history books.

I really can't be bothered to read this entire thread, so I don't know if anyone has so far mentioned that we were in the heart of an ice age not that long ago, and are still on the tail end of it. That might seem ridiculous if you look out the window and don't see people throwing spears at mammoths, but that's because we are in an interglacial period. It's perfectly natural and normal for the planet to be warming up, after all, there are so many factors outside our control affecting the temperature of the planet, that our own human impact is tiny overall. There's pretty much nothing we can do to stop it. If you think about it for just a moment, the planet used to be a lot hotter and the sea levels were a lot higher. The Sahara used to be underwater, and most of the planet was covered in warm jungle. It will be this way again and the change will be gradual, but it will happen. Our actions might be catalysing global warming, but we are certainly not causing it.

The basic point is that global climate change is a BAD THING, no matter how you slice and dice it we need to do something to stop it and if cutting down on pollution has any remote possibility of doing that (along with the enormous benefit of making the air NOT TOXIC TO BREATHE) then it needs, not should, but NEEDS to be done. Whether or not we are the cause is irrelevant to both whether or not it should be stopped and whether or not we should cut down on pollution and CO2 emissions.

End of story.

I'm afraid that's not the end of the story. You seem to think that we can stop global climate change, but we can't. Not even if we switched off every single power station, ditched all our cars and stopped using electricity, it would still happen. The most we can do its hope to delay it slightly. I think the real goal, and something we have to strive for, is coping with climate change instead of trying to swim against the tide.
