Last night, there was a supposed bomb threat scribbled on the wall somewhere in my school or on the internet or something. So they 'investigate' it and came to the conclusion that it was false, and call everyone in the district about it and how they know its false.
Now today, December 10th, beginning at 730, in my first period spanish class, this lady who sounded like she was crying ordered hard lockdown over the intercom. So we all drop our things and go to what amounts to everyone cowering on the wall so that from the door it looks empty. Since I've played enough videogames and seen tv/movies/news, i knew exactly what was going to go on. So the first 10 minutes are really tense and silent.
The girl next to me, (who is from wales) is shaking and almost crying. So instead of taking a nap while waiting for the calvalry to arrive, surround the school/set up a perimeter, and then begin searching the huge campus, i tried to comfort her. Then i took a nap.
Two hours later, we still havnt moved. Nor have we heard any other instructions or anything, except for some screaming and some loud noises. (nothing sounding like a gunshot, just like stomping and banging noises) Then we hear the sound of keys on the door outside, so the welsh girl freaks out again, and two armed police officers storm in, pistols raised. It's a good thing they yelled police before showing the gun or i think some girl would've been in tears.
So the police officer closest to me walks across the room, with the other one covering him from the other side of the room, moving in parallel over bags and desks and stuff. Then he points to my friend Mustafa, who is a pretty dark skinned pakistani kid, and two other indian kids, to be searched. They get padded down and what amounts to a groping, and then they cops leave, telling us don't do anything different than before.
Finally, four hours after the whole ordeal starts, a police officer comes back in telling us we can use the bathroom now. Four hours. 5 1/2 of my 8 class schedule, i can finally use the bathroom.
Thankfully, my teacher stopped trying to get us to do work, control cell phones (officially they're not allowed in school) etc. So at least for half the time i could text people, take pictures of the many cop cars (from two cities, aurora and naperville; the sheriff; and state police), the csi van, the k9 units, the US Marshall Swat team with an M4 (M7?, which i guess is an only semiauto derived gun of the M4) in hand and a spare shotgun or rifle or something strapped on their ass.
Finally, after five hours of being locked in my spanish class, my principal goes on the pa to tell us its all okay, and that we're going to start the schedule at third hour. Wonderful!
My math teacher joked about giving us a quiz, which i didn't think was funny. Then these two social worker clowns came in to tell us some nonsense, as if it were possible to get PTSD from sitting around for five hours. I quote them, "So if you have any problems or need ways to deal with this we recommend you talk to your friends, family, church group, or anywhere/one you feel safe with." WTF is this nonsense?
All this over 3 black kids threatening over the internet, 2 airsoft guns in lockers, and one or two kids thinking they saw a gun.
Though it could've been worse... kinda a boring/interesting day.
*edit: fixed the formatting, and i cant really find a legit news site with the story;
but i heard it was carried on cnn for a while earlier today. However, you can google "waubonsie Valley" and the story will come up at least twice on the first page of searching.
