Why should imports change, really. The price and supply has to be kept stable, and thus the flow of oil. Either way, its the control of the oil that is the important factor as well as having a military presence in the region and, oh, spending huge amounts of money.

I was in an airport ready to fly across the country, from San Fran to New York. It was around The end of August or the beginning of September. As I waited for my plane to start boarding I was watching TV. The had the News on, which there is nothing wrong with that. However they where showing images and videos of the 9/11 attacks. IN A FUCKING AIRPORT!!! I'm sorry but the last thing I want to see when I am flying across the country is anything that makes me think of shit like that...

Anyway, I have lost a lot of faith in the gov. Hearing Senators talk about passing the health care bill even if the people they represent are opposed to it makes me shake my head. I'm not saying I think the gov was involved, but at this point I would not be floored if they were. either way knowing the truth will not change my opinion of where the gov is headed at this point.

a weird anecdote that this brings up.
where i live, the first break in programming on september 11, 2001, was the simpsons on the local fox channel. it just so happened that the episode on that day was about marge's fear of flying. somebody at the station seems to have caught the inappropriateness of this, as after a commercial break there was a completely different episode on, picked up at the appropriate time as if nothing happened.

what made it even stranger was that it was the episode where homer becomes the leader of the stonecutters (masons)and at one point, he orders the beautification of a rundown building. he and the oft clueless citizens of springfield paint the building sky-blue and seconds later, a helicopter crashes into it.
