Mononucleosis - Or.. mono / kissing disease?

My girlfriend called today, and said she has Mono. I did some research saying it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get the symptoms.. And just a few days ago we made out etc.. What i'm asking is The probability of me getting this is VERY high, isn't it? And, I think she got it while school was still in, because one of her friends had it, and she drank after them. So what are the odds of me getting it?

Wikipedia says that "well over 90% of all adults are exposed to [the Epstein-Barr virus] at some point in their life". But it looks like the symptoms aren't that bad (if they were,the virus wouldn't survive very long, or the human race would be extinct(?)). So I'd say you shouldn't worry too much. Just try not too kiss too many people in the coming weeks, because it's never really fun to get a fever and all that stuff.

Mono went around my school for a while. The chance of infection really depends of how much contaminated material got into you. Unless that kiss was french-y, I'd say you have a relatively low chance of getting it.

WEBMED THAT SHIT. i diagnosed my dog with pink eye the other day and now I feel like a doctor... too bad the vet disagreed with my diagnoses =(

Edit: If you do get it its not the end of the world. I've had it and its not that bad. You could always have aids or cancer...
