That's easy to solve. Three abortions and you get your tubes tied. And who said anything about the right to have babies? You don't have the right to end lives, why the fuck should you have the right to create as many as you damn well please?

If that's still a problem than at least we have another food source. Cannibalism. lol

Indeed, I dare say it is quite a modest proposal. :p

The funding aspect is easy: Pay for the procedure or fund a clinic that offers the procedure for free. It's not like "Here's your abortobucks, try not to spend them all on one child" or something.

Funding for abortion is far more defensible as "the proper role of government" than a huge variety of business subsidies and tax breaks. It's rather more directly connected to the common welfare.

I'm one of those crappy liberals who isn't comfortable with abortions. I don't think they should be banned, but when you get into late-term stuff you're definitely in a gray area. Contraceptives should be pushed harder.

e - sorry, every thread I post in is like two months old. I'm used to more active forums.

These forums are very active. It's just that certain threads get lost from time to time or people lose interest in it since everyone's been discussing it for so long. Discussion threads like this are usually alright to revive but don't go posing in help threads from 6 months ago.

I would have to say i'm pro-choice, something is only alive when it is independently breathing and is able to interact with the outside. Before that it's just neglect of a foetus.

From what I've heard an abortion is an incredibly upsetting experience for a woman. From that angle, doesn't the problem of repeat abortions only really apply to those rare few who have no self control and need professional help anyway?

Lots of things are quite "upsetting" to do, like giving birth to a baby.

I believe it's all up to the woman in the end.

What about premature babies who are kept alive on ventilators until they can breath on their own?

Anyway, I was thinking about this the other day and I remembered something interesting. According to law if a man kills his pregnant girlfriend he will be charged with two cases of murder, but is a woman goes in the day before that murder takes place and terminates the pregnancy it is legal for her to do so. If nothing else this is contradiction of logic. It makes no sense to me that the law protects the baby from harm in one case but not the other. Nor does it makes sense that it is considered murder in one case and not the other. As far as I know there is no stipulation as to how far along the pregnancy needs to be in order for the double charge to be warranted. Regardless of whether you are pro-choice or pro-life, I am sure you can see my point...

Oddly enough, this is relevant. The new research about the whole "before 24 months children in the womb do not feel pain" is an interesting point; does it sway anyone?

I actually really like Mayhem's point. I'll have to ponder that one for a bit.

I'm thinking the solution has to do with the man not having the right to choose what happens with the woman's body and what's inside of it, but the woman does.

There's no question to whether abortion is killing something, but whether it's murder, and I suppose context has a lot to do with that.
