Frustrated by careless players

Yeah, I know this is probably a duplicate thread but I want to vent a little.

Every time I get playing in a game it seems like the proverbial 80-20 smacks me across the gun. Sometimes it feels like 99-01.
I like playing puzzle/tactical games, but the majority of people don't, yet they still play them...very poorly. Just running amok blasting everything in sight including friendlies and getting in your line of fire while hogging all possible resources. Then when everything goes south they rage quit.

I just tried for an hour in both L4D1 and L4D2:D to just play through a couple runs, but every time I go pubbing it's filled with retards that don't care about actually playing the game as intended. Why in the world do people join up in an Expert game if they are just gonna screw off? It's infuriating.

What's even more infuriating are clans that try to act professional but then just dick around...nobody cares about team image it seems like.
I don't know I guess what I'm trying to say is that it would be nice to find a group that plays in a dignified manner but it feels like there aren't too many out there looking for recruits...ya know? I guess that's just what I'm looking for...some camaraderie.

Since the L4D2 demo came out, I haven't even been trying to look for a public server since it sucks, I'm just waiting for the next LAN I'll have with my mates and play with them.

I used to play Left 4 Dead 1 Vs. mode with a group of around 10-12 friends. When we got the opportunity, we'd collect as many players as possible from our group and set up a match of friendly player whom all knew each other. We all had microphones and all worked as a good team to try and best the other. It was beautiful. There were leaders, actual tactics, great plays, and funny instances. There was no mic spam, team-killing, rage-quitting, or dickery. It was around last Spring that our 'events' started becoming infrequent. Since dwindling down to nothing, we've all been doing our own thing while waiting for L4D2 to come out so we can get the same thing going again.

How did I get in this group? It was totally random. I think I was on the wrong end of a Pnub-stomp when I got to switch to their team. After a couple good matches with them I friended one and often got invited to other events. It worked this way for other new members joining our games randomly and deciding they wanted to play Vs. with us.

I hope that group gets started up again. If not, I plan to start a group like it. Left 4 Dead involves teamwork, and teamwork only works if people are willing to play as a team. Playing with people you know/friends is one of the only ways I know to have a good time in Left 4 Dead. You might find the same thing true.

The only thing I play on public servers is straightforward deatmatch. Quake Live, Warsow, UT3... anything that requires no team effort or leaves u any time to muck about.

Unless I can play with more than enough friends.

I feel the same way. Unfortunately, unless you're playing a milsim for instance pub play always tends to be like that.

Interlopers could create a playgroup encompassing many games.

When L4D1 hit, we didn't have enough in my clan to have full 4v4 versus matches without having a few pubbers. We played that way for a bit and befriended the cool people and kicked out the lamers. Over time we had a friends list chock-full of dependable players, even recruited a good number of them into our clan. Now every game we play is beautiful.

Takes a little effort and some patience, but it pays off.

I think it might be in everybody's interest if we kinda figure out a map or something of serious players...what clan is good to pair up with, etc....

Seems like everyone is having the same problem as I am on this board, might as well figure out who plays what...

I think the jist you guys are giving off is the best way to be... just find some chaps online and befriend them. Play with them, test their ability to not act like an idiot and keep them close. I'm lucky; I fortunately have a brother and at least 4 mates online whenever I am so we can have some pretty good, balanced games of pretty much anything.

We're all hooked on Dawn of War 2 at the moment. Anybody else play that by any chance?

Dawn of War 2 is awesome, the first time I played I thought it sucked because it was nothing like the first Dawn of War, then I played the campaign and I totally changed my mind.

But really, do you join up into a game with the hardest difficulty and tk everyone in the safe room because you step into other people's fire and get killed, setting off the game balance which results in everybody else dying? For the third time?

Those are the people I'm pissed off at.


On a completely different subject, I found some people playing who managed to play versus in campaign mode earlier. That was pretty fun.
