Swine flu vaccine unsafe.

Postby Jangalomph on Wed Dec 09, 2009 11:59 pm

Today i received the swine flu vaccine (SHOT) and within a few hours my body completely spazzed out at school. I had major swelling of the throat, tongue, a major rash on my arms.. I was nauseous, i have a major head ache and it ended me up in the hospital. I'm completely pissed because what if i died? I seriously could've died if i hadn't of gone to the hospital. I would highly recommend to any one to NOT GET THIS SHOT, but if you do use it at your own RISK. It is not worth it, They told me it was an allergic reaction and any one of you may be vulnerable to it.. I never even knew i was allergic to it until today, and i learned the hard way. :smt018

That's unfair. Taking your single experience and extrapolating it to any kind of larger population is a logical fallacy. However traumatic your experience was, it was only your experience. If the shot had this effect at all regularly it wouldn't have made it past the (admittedly rushed) rigorous testing procedure. The majority of people who would have this reaction would probably know about their allergy beforehand anyway.

I'm not saying that it's a perfectly save shot, but I don't think you should be going round telling unconnected people not to get the shot.

With any kind of vaccination, there will be some people somewhere in the world who will have an allergic reaction to it. Would you rather live in a world without vaccinations just because of a few bad reactions by a minority of people? If we did, a lot more people in the world would be dead. Just because you've had a bad experience doesn't mean that everyone is going to be like that. Stop trying to scare everyone and just get on with your life.

A friend of mine caught a cold the day he was vaccinated...

I don't support the vaccination craze tbh, but I do agree with ad. You cannot make a conclusion based on a population of 1.

QFT.

I appreciate you must have been shit scared, but remember that this vaccine would not be out there if it had not undergone trials.

Anyway, I've had swineflu and it was piss. I've had hangovers worse than that. :smt023

EDIT: vcool -> "vaccination craze" are you only referring to swine flu here? If so then that's understandable. If not then it's a highly stupid statement!

Heh, I just did a persuasive speech, and a 10 page paper on why ALL mandatory vaccines are worthwhile. At the same time though, I'm not getting flu vaccine, or a swine flu vaccine this year, even though I know I'm fine with both. I just don't like needles :(

If anyone in this thread tries to make some correlation between vaccinations and autism rates, then I'm going to rape them.

I don't feel like touching the subject anymore though, so I'll just say I'm glad they're around. I'm sorry you had a bad reaction Janga :(

Apparently the US shot is different from other shots as it uses live antigens instead of dead, so there's an actual chance it can mess with you.

Shot? There's nothing live in a shot. Mist has a live virus but weakened. Shot is very dead.

Yeah, real unlucky that this happened to you. At least now you will know you're allergic to ingridients of that stuff you took and this might save you trouble in future. Besides, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger ;)

But yeah, you shouldn't tell people not to get this shot only because you had bad reaction to it. Perhaps words "Use at your own risk, but I do not recommend" would have sounded more subtle.

I myself won't be taking a vaccine and I think it's up to everyone to decide for himself (well, with exception of children, parents decide for them :P)

And anyway, being allergic to one vaccine isn't the worst there could be, just think how hellish it would be to be allergic to something like water...
