Ouch.

Sorry if we ruined your motivation. Though, our "whining" about the SDK shouldn't really affect you.

Just because the SDK is in the shitter doesn't mean we don't play and give input on mods/maps. Some still even use it(hell I'm coding for it, mainly because it's the only thing I know atm) .

Notice the drop in mod activity lately? I can confirm it, I have lost nearly all the motivation to work in source.

Not because the tools are old. They worked fine for what I and most people were doing.

My motivation went lost, when people suddenly started complaining and whining like little bitches about the old SDK.

The hype about this ruined everything.

Thanks whiners, thanks bitches, thanks complainers. You ruined the fun it used to be to work with the sdk (even if it was old) I had more than the tools itself ruined it...

Go die in a hole!

If that alone saps your motivation then I don't know what to tell you.

Source is old. A lot of modders went to the UDK instead, and I can't blame them. UDK is a far better tool and modders can make their own standalone game with it. I don't hate Source or anything, but Valve really does need to step it up a bit with the SDK. Stability is the only thing I want, really.

pfft Jike your complaining and whining about people complaining and whining about old tools really ruined the fun I had complaining, I'm not going to tell you to die because you complained about complainers because I'm not that emotional unstable

Okay, I see on what grounds I'm treading...

I'll just go replay the handful of good stuff currently being released and never say a word again. Just don't take my last post as a "I love broken tools"-post, but more as a "you are making it worse than it is"-post, ok...

damn you sarcastic modders...

...I also recommend The Stanley Parable, Whoopservatory, and Titan: XCIX. How long have you been away from playing mods?

this. this is what kept me hanging around Source for so damned long, and the memory/knowledge of this is the biggest razorblade in my udk creme brule.
going from the massive gamut of HL2/TF2/etc content to washed-out, shit-looking, brown-drenched GoW props and textures was incredibly painful, but after a while, making your own textures and materials for UE isn't really that bad, it's just the time sink of it all*.

*a guy who played WoW and Eve bitching about a time sink? no, yeah, i went there.

What is a time sink about creating those custom assets?

it takes longer to create and import a material than it does to simply select one from a list.
