It lacks the animations, AI, textures, materials, models(props, characters, guns, etc.), and sounds besides a few from UT. Nothing near the amount you get with the Source SDK, where you literally get an entire game worth of assets.

That's the only real reason I'm with Source.

It also seems like the reason why a background in Source is not as impressive to studios as other engines. It makes sense.

Yea. So that is one of my main motivations to learn and master the content creation process. I think you are talking about the tedium of creating assets. I, on the other hand, am at the bottom of the experience ladder so perception is one of an uphill struggle to learn.

I'm a tad impatient; it's not so much tedium as it is "damnit i want to play this game i have in my head now!"

Anyone else interested in the idea of building plugins to extend Netbeans IDE so that it understands stuff like VMT files and how to repeatedly run studiomdl?
