Bioshock was a great game, but I don't think that was due to the gameplay alone. It had an original setting (for a video game) and a unique take on civilization. Plasmids were really cool as well, but I don't know if they were "original." I mean, genetic modification has been explored extensively in the science fiction genre.
Anyway, good read. But I mean...it's nothing we don't already know honestly.

But it didn't, really. It had light RPG mechanics in terms of the inventory system. It had audio tapes spread out to set the mood and tell the story, and this isn't all too original either. The art style was somewhat interesting and made for pretty awesome scenes, but it wasn't all that amazingly original.

By 'original gameplay' I was refering to the plasmids.
