Blake Harper (1968–) Canadian pornographic actor

hmmm that's probably not him...
Elijah Harper (1949–), Aboriginal Cree Canadian politician and band chief

errrhhh?
Gisèle Côté-Harper (contemporary), Canadian law professor and human rights activist

probably not.
Reg Harper (contemporary), Canadian politician from Prince Edward Island

hummm
Susan Harper (1952–), Canadian diplomat

quite some harpers over there.

After sifting through alot more Harpers, I think I finally got your man... Stephen Harper!

I love the way politics go "over there" Canadian politics seems to be a bit milder then say in the US (from what I've seen thusfar, don't hold me to it plz) but there was this awesome ad that goes along the lines of "Stephen Harper actually announced he wants to increase military presence in our cities.
Canadian cities. Soldiers with guns. In our Cities.
In Canada. We did not make this up."

(Those are actual ads right? I haven't been watching some lame parodies I hope)

Actually there are some more ads that go like, We actually don't know, and we did not make this up, we're not allowed to make stuff up.
lol that was funny but at the same time horribly weak.

On the other side we have Stephen Harper going with nazi-style ads, "Is *insert name* a leader? He didn't do this, that, this and that. No he's not a leader, leaders get things done"

right.

So with two laughable campaigns going, with atleast the Liberal ads being the most informative on what kind of sneaky nazi Harper is, well I'd obviously pick them.

I errr don't get why one would increase military presence in Canadian cities unless he's planning totally take control or something (lol that'd be something)
Some talk about him being connected to US-conservatives, being funded by an unknown source.
probably those same US conservatives etc.
well when browsing his site, the first thing you obviously get is

Mission

By getting things done for families and taxpayers, Canada’s New Government is building a stronger Canada.

*
A prosperous and secure country with a clean, healthy environment.
*
A Canada that is united at home and respected abroad.
*
A country where what you’ve done and where you’re going matters more than where you’re from or who you know.
*
A Canada that offers everyone a fair shot, and gives those in need a hand up.
*
A country with safe streets and secure borders.
*
A Canada that leads, not follows, on the world stage.

lots of bull.
(okay, you obviously will never find anything incriminating on one's own site..)

Alarm bells start ringing...

Harper was part of a small minority of delegates who voted against restricting the definition of marriage to "the union of one man and one woman"

Sigh... (while I do think this is a somewhat trivial matter, it's obvious that when people do that sorta stuff they're pricks.)

These tensions culminated in late 1996 when Harper announced that he would not be a candidate in the next federal election. He resigned his parliamentary seat on January 14, 1997, the same day that he was appointed as a vice-president of the National Citizens Coalition (NCC), a conservative think-tank and advocacy group.

How to get the people under control, get immigrants out and get-rich-fast think tank etc.

On social issues, Harper argued for "parental rights" to use corporal punishment against their children and supported raising the age of sexual consent.[46] He described his potential support base as "similar to what George Bush tapped"

and
The party soon began a fight against same-sex marriage.

Sigh sigh sigh sigh!!!! if anything THIS is what you need guns for people, to stand up against social nazi's.

-oh about the ads apparently they're all from 2006, ah well still displays some lol-factor-
Especially funny return volleys from the National Post

* "Stephen Harper has a dog. You know who else had a dog? Hitler. Adolf Hitler. That's who. Did Stephen Harper train his dog to attack racial minorities on command? We don't know. He's not saying."
* "Stephen Harper likes to wear black. You know who else wears black? Darth Vader. Do you really want Darth Vader running your country?"
* "In 1963, In Dallas, democratic president John F. Kennedy was shot and killed. Where was four year old Stephen Harper? We Don't Know. He's not saying. We didn't make this up"

If somebody could ehh briefly sum up what this year's election is all about, please do, I'm quite interested.
It's quite obvious (to me atleast) who you shouldn't elect.

Are there like, any Conservatives at all, who care about total freedom? to be whoever you want to be?
that aren't a devout christian? that do not have bucketloads of money hmmm?
I wonder.

I voted for Harper, generally though...I'm not a huge fan of any of the parties. The Liberals are all half criminals, and I don't like the stance the Conservatives take on a lot of things.

The rest I believe, are incompetent.

well first one talks about Harper himself.. next one talks about the entire party.. so no he's not a flip flopper like McCain (what?) or Hillary for that matter.

love this.. thread about canadian elections and it didn't take too long to bash bush and the american system I saw.

oh yeah mr. happy you forgot al sharpton in your candidate list I believe.

sure there's all those options for president in America but it's narrowed down to one of those democrats (probably Hillary, edward's is a tool, and Obamas reason stated already) and republicans(probably giuliani or romney, mccain's shown he's a republican howard dean) and facing reality the independents, libertarians, green parties aren't gonna do anything but detract votes from the major parties.

that being said i have no idea on canadian politics..

but if this was the case in canada this certainly isn't the way to go.
Then don't vote at all.
rather getting educated in the matter from unbiased sources (sometimes harder to find than you think)

hope it turns out well for Canada with whoever they choose.. or chose? It could be over for all I know
