GrolscHe wrote:I personally have heard people go on and on about suicide, so much so now that its more of a common phrase so to speak. Suicide I feel is very selfish but I do understand why people to do it, especially in more extreme cases that ive heard about. Personally I just look at the faults and turn them into good things and then look at that in a positive nature. For example, I'm really thin and I dont really like it but then I just think well at least I can get down small cracks between buildings, not that I ever will but the point is there. However if this thread has shown anything an irony will occur, because I can see this Jack Thompson guy in 40 years time (if he doesnt get "accidentally" killed in this time") being a more annoying version of Victor Meldrew. Although his comments lead me to believe people will one day take revenge against his comments.

In 40 years time? he surpassed him years ago.

If jack tompson is reading this, fuck you... Just because they were looking like crazy to find where this person lives to stop him and then you blame video games on this? Please, I think the real issue is the music these kids listen to now.

And on another note, its pretty sad that happened.

No it's sad and a good discussion starter but we didn't know the guy. It would be no different from putting up a news post for everybody who gets hit by a car.

There wont be a news post for the guy. Regardless of how tragic his death. sorry.

There are those who try and committed suicide but don't and do this for attention, and then there are those who really go through with it.

People who commit suicide feel very isolated and alone. As if the problems will never end and no matter what they do life will keep handing them shit.

QFT.

The sick thing is that if you pay even a hint of attention to reality (which some people apparently can't be assed to do) the games aren't responsible for things like this.

TBH I think people's internal dipshittedness and total oblivion to other human beings' suffering (and therefore, failure to act within reason to help with it) is indefinitely more responsible than GTA can ever dream of being.

It's a deep sense of "Life is more trouble than it's worth" - which is a huge statement...

And man... let's completely ignore the real (not bleeding-heart) meaning of "don't judge others", take on the role of God and Christ as Judge of Hearts, and call ourselves Christians.

Brilliant.

Fucking, screw suicide, this fucking emo fad is going way out of hand. If you have issues and stresses you really need to toughen up. Sure, carring stuff on your shoulders such as stress is not the best idea, but its better than commiting suicide. I dont know how depressed you could be, there is a limit. I understand if your parents neglect and or beat you but this seems like a case of a kid not fitting in school and just killing themselves.

Seriously, if your enough of a fool to kill yourself then you dont diserve to be living or to be talked about at all. I rest there.

Ive tried to stop myself from posting on these topics but I really cant help it. JT is a cunt. he is an abomination of chrisianity.

"You will know them by their fruits." Possibly one of the most important verses in the Bible. It doesn't matter what you say you are- Christianity isn't a title you slap next to your name like "Ph, D"- it watters what you *do*. When people become christians, are "born again" as it were, the importance is that you attempt to be Christ-like- not be Jesus, like Jack's trying to make himself out to be, but to follow the examples regarding humility, kindness, patience, and piety.

The fruits I bear as a Christain are my Foundation- helping thousands of kids across the country have an easier and more enjoyable recovery in hospitals.

The fruits Jack bears are what you see on the news- wrath, pride, greed, and lies.

Which one bears fruit of Christianity? Which one bears fruit of the World?

"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit." Matthew 7:15-19

Im not gonna say anymore.

Vey fitting. Thanks for the extremely apt quotation, Fearian.

Similarly, I rarely say much on this issue. But I think that it's important to put certain ideas to rest. I can't see how it's helpful to label a suicidal person as weak, emo or selfish. I guess, the way I see it, that suicide is one of those things that, if you can't understand or fathom how people would even consider it, you're lucky. But it's very important to think very carefully about how you express that. People aren't all the same. Different people react differently to different situations. And just because you've never been in a situation where you've felt depressed or like hurting yourself, doesn't mean that someone who has is 'wrong'. What it really means is that you're either in a particularly good position in life, or you're brain is wired in a particular way. Not everyone is that lucky, and it might do to think about that before you start suggesting that suicidal/depressed people "need to toughen up". Suicide isn't a fad or a trend or a passing phase, it's a serious social problem.

Oh and guys no bashing christianity please. i know i've done it in the pass but realise now it's wrong.

Jack thompson is a prick no denying it. Whilst i have my own views towards organised religion i wouldn't bash peoples own ideals because faith is a very important thing to a lot of people.

Jack however uses Christianity as an excuse rather then a belief. Bash jack not the religion.

Suicide is often regarded as the ultimate selfish act - removing yourself from society. The proof is in the fact that we don't even know this guy but his tragedy is touching all of us, whilst he is in a better place.

If one good thing has come of this it's that Jack Thompson's crusade is taking a serious turn for the worse now everyone can see how he has thoughtlessly taken such an event and twisted it for his own means.

Were I came from, suicide was rare, In fact I the only suicide I can remember was a girl who just finished school with average marks and her mother beated her for it, so she took a walk in the ocean.

I have had one thought of suicide, and that was of family troubles when I was 14.

On Jack Thompson, I wanna take a steaming dump in his mailbox (but his house(s) is more than 15000 Km's away).
