The problem with Jack Thompson is that it's virtually impossible to have a serious discussion about him, because nobody wants to agree with what he says. I think he's right that children should be kept away from certain computer games. Parents aren't doing a good enough job of parenting and controlling what their (especially younger) children. I believe that there is a genuine problem with society there, and it shouln't be up to the state to restrict certain things like violence, drugs, porn and so on from younger members of society..
But when he crusades against a game that already features drugs, guns, killing, fighting policemen and so on and so forth because it's possible to hack them and show simulated sex between two low res, low poly, fully clothed people, it gets silly. The fact that you need to access the internet to do this makes it particularly ironic. Like that's the worst thing you'll find on the internet.
I'd love to know what he makes of your average round of Counter Strike...
