Sounds like little Jack may be involved with such terrorist groups as the KKK...

Start mailing Jack Thompson please, I'm interested to see where in the Bible it says "Thou shalt not play games consoles nor utilise thine personal computer for such sinful things, for this is the greatest sin." Furthermore I'd love to see what Jack has to say to a fellow Christian about the matter.

yeah, and I don't feel convicted about playing hl2. There's such thing as stress relief. I believe in that too.

People like Jack Thomson are the reason why separation of state and church is so important. Any americans here, for your own sakes and the rest of us, please uphold that crucial constitutional cornerstone to the last and don't let it be chipped away. Not just for the sake of games and gaming, but for the sake of intellectual maturity (eg preaching genesis - i mean, 'teaching intelligent design' - in schools) and for international harmony (how many times has Bush referred to iraq/war-on-terror as a crusade?)

I know, I know. It is so frustrating hearing about dumbass people like this in America. Thankfully, sane people far out number this dickhead and he should just go away quietly. More times than not the bible is used in vain. The so called word of God is being used to leverage peoples earnings and time to fatten the pockets of the corrupt.

Intelligent Design is NOT being taught in Americas schools. ID can be mentioned and discussed at the teachers discretion but no curriculum has ID as a subject being taught. Many religious scary people would like it to be but as of now is is not!

G.W. Bush is a fkn idiot. When ever he brings religion into the war in Iraq all he is doing is adding fuel to the fire. He is begging for more people to join the fight against the big bad Americans fighting a holy war.

OMG, the blunders from the G.W. Bush reign of power will haunt us for many years to come.

I believe in the Bible as far as it's translated correctly, which if you'd look at both sides of the issue, you'd realize is actually better than most of the history you take for granted.

IMO, Extremism (also called Fundamentalism) is one of (if not the) most poisonous worldview(s) ever invented. You can take anything to either one of its logical extremes. Subjects including knitting, hunting, or cake baking can be extrapolated virtually as badly as anything else if you fail to keep balance.

No it won't. If you email him that gives the power to him on a silver platter. Ignoring him however, unless he tries to take the law into his own hands by force, is imho a great idea.

Stupid extremists parrot that masturbation is a sin, while parroting "spilling your seed onto the ground" - the verse that is taken wholly out of context so as to fit their personal lack of embarrasment and sense of a pleasurable and complacent existence.

Jest@ wrote:...separation of state and church is so important....

Jest@, that concept was originally created to protect the Church from the State. Not to segregate theology out of the Public Square.

Jest@ wrote:...i mean, 'teaching intelligent design' - in schools...

This is a tangeant for this discussion, but I wanted to mention it anyway. Asserting that an intelligent entity is responsible for the beginning of time is at the very least as rational as saying "BOOM! HEADSHOT! It just happened!" - in my mind it's much more rational, but that's a topic for a different thread so I won't go on.

*pause*

Anyway my point here is that you shouldn't lump a whole working belief system into one idiot's dogma just because you're pissed.

EDIT: Do any of you fathom how insulting it is to relate all of Christianity to some damn lawyer?

His email doesen't work but i wanted to send this.

Dear Mr. Jack Thompson,

I play video games and I haven't killed anybody yet so I don't know what the big deal is about you complaining that kids who play violent video games kill people. When people play a violent game, they get to do stuff they don't want to experience in real life, thus preventing violence to happen. Without violent video games, I personally think the violence rate in the world would go way up. Violent video games are fun to play in my free time, then when I go out in the real world, heck I wouldn't kill anyone because it is immoral and wrong.

Sincerely,

Josh L.

Note that the US Congress has always started out with a prayer, and every President and Supreme Court Judge is sworn in with their hand on a Bible. Even the oath of office is laced with religious material. They are not giving an oath to the people, but to God instead. If that means nothing to them, then it is meaningless; but even so, it limits who they must answer to in their eyes...

Seperation of Church and State, in a literal sense, has never happened in America. They require religious procedings in all government and legal matters. Christianity is deeply engraved into America...

Despite the fact the letter was written without any kind of insult to Jacko whatsoever, if the answer you get is not automated, he'll insult you, 100% guaranteed (sp?). He flames more than some of the idiots in other forums i've had the misfortune to meet.

I personally don't take him seriously, he's not going to accomplish much/anything.

I am so going to return to this thread.

Does his e-mail still work or is it dead?

Otherwise I'm going to do a little digging and give him a good bash over his head.

He also can't use anything I send against him (Threat or whatever) sinse I live in Sweden I'm pretty safe. Our legal system isn't fucked up either, laws are laws and it's not about moral.

way too many powerful people have their fingers in the videogaming pie to let a nutter like jack thompson damage their industry in any significant way.

they just let him rant for 4 minutes on nbc occasionally when they are news dry and that keeps everybody happy. they just smile and nod till he fucks off and then they forget all about the lunatic.

"Thompson describes himself as “[a] Christian conservative and a Republican"

I think that's all I wanted to hear, people who belong to that group are rotten.

oh and as far as the bible is concerned, It's just as bad as the Qu'ran/koran
you know, somebody actually showed me a page which said that it's legal to hit women if they aren't obedient >>Qu'ran/Koran (I never believed it otherwise)
and both books are filled with crap like non believers will burn and all that shit, the bible promotes the phrase 'thou shall not kill' oh yeah look at the main christian country in the world well that's the US... SURPRISINGLY...most of the killing happens in/and/around/because of the US.

I've had it with religion, from the get go it sounded like a means to cling on to something, people couldn't explain why the sun went down, oh must be almighty god, oh and are we really the centerpoint of the universe? ignorant bastards, just like the pope (on his fourteenth birthday in 1941, Ratzinger joined the Hitler Youth)

if people place trust in these misplaced wisdoms FINE by me, as long as you don't go chanting the rest of us SANE people burn in hell.

I can rant on about this forever... but I won't ...

thank you for your attention, I hope you didn't find this too personal.

Can I point out the speration of church and state was spurred by the Salem witch trials, if I recall. Now, if you're saying that that was protecting religon from the state... hmm. Wiki it or pick up a copy of the Crucible(sp?).

there is no seperation of religion of state...well not as it should be, bush acts under god, the fucking US acts under god, Iran acts under 'god' everybody wants to act under god. even in the netherlands, we have political parties wanting to implement stuff from the bible into our laws

there is no god.

period.

we're here to live and die, and there are probably more life forms out there doing the same thing, the universe is a strange place, get used to it.
