Postby alexroyce on Sat Mar 11, 2006 10:24 pm

Now what im wondering is how big of a shot ill have getting a job with it. A friend is making the flash version of it, but its taking quite a while so if its not done soon im just going to go with the HTML version I made.

lookin good... lets hope your prospective employer has a high-speed connection with the size of those pics (/kidding)

maybe lose the topless chicks, if possible. obviously, it doenst bother me, and I know most game developers are probably pretty laid back about that, but you have to get through the recruitment office first... Those corporate types can be a little on the uptight and rigid side, ya know? Although who knows, i'm just guessing

looks great

Yeah I kinda made sure that the shot with the girls wasnt very graphic. You cant really make anything out, though, so it shouldent be too big of a problem.

And id like to get a faster host, but free hosting has its problems.

Some more shots would be a BIG help. it's a prettty light portfolio. The stuff you have up is good, but you need lots more. Also, I would reccomend putting up some higher quality models. The ones you have a nice in your maps, but don't really display a great technical prowess.

So yeah, everything looks good, but you're going to need more imo

Yeah I suck at modelling, the main reason its there is because its a bonus if you know how, same with texturing. Mappers mostly map :P

As for adding more stuff, every single person who I asked said keep it concise because employers dont like looking through tons of photos, only a few (which is why you only put the best stuff you got).

Perhaps I should rephrase. While I agree that you should avoid overloading, I think that you should have 2-3 pictures per map and 5-7 maps. This gives people a better overall "feel" for your maps rather than a very, very supercial glance. Anything more than 20-25 shots becomes excessive, but I think you should cover your mapping bases a little more. Again, just my opinion and completely ignorable

Yes thats a good thing to do. Too bad I dont have that many good maps :P

Ive actually got 6 maps on display, but most just have 1 picture for them (cabaret is the exception).

I would have to say that you have some of the best looking maps that I have seen. You have an amazing talent and I wish you the best of luck getting a job in it.

The other day I was searching the net and Epic is hiring mappers. No college education required. They just want to see some maps/models/textures etc. I will look for the link and send it to you. Im sure u can search on google. And find something about it.

PS: Cant wait to see what cabaret plays like. Looks like a sweet looking map that I would like to add to my server.
