My new music.

Postby nub on Fri Mar 07, 2008 9:48 pm

Hey there everyone. I've been hard at work on my music, on and off, for the past couple of months, and it has turned out relatively satisfying.

I introduce a new track for your auditory pleasure:

Closure(Remastered)

Closure has been a long run and it's one of my most ambiguous tracks yet. The newly remastered version is now at 20 minutes long! Woohoo!

It starts off the same as the original, but the build is quicker. There is no more bass clipping so it is satisfying and not unpleasant when played loud. The volumes have been rearranged for each arp and pad so that they correspond with each other better and are way more harmonic this way. There is new custom drum looping done by yours truly, using Fruity Loops' FPC drum kit plugin; a very good plugin that is commonly used. There is a whole new addition to the song as well--action! Yes, that's right, the once mellow-toned and medium-paced "Ambient/Epic/Progressive-Trance" song now has a nice, simple, and short action sequence to it. It's nothing special.

Edit: Oops I forgot to post the other new song:

Break Away

Break Away is a pretty short and sweet song. It runs at three minutes. It consists only of drums in a long, but not repetitive break beat. The song, obviously, has been identified as a Break Beat genre of DnB. The bass line kicks in at the very end though. CSS fans may like the ending or not. I found it a nice explosive finisher for the drum beat. This song has not been completely finished. I intend on adding some more funk to it and making it around 5 minutes long with some complex bass and pad leads. It'll be a pretty epic song as well when completed. You can consider Break Away simply a test I put together after mastering FPC drum looping techniques. It took me a while to get this song the way it is, only because of the amount of piano rolls and their diversity.

I liked the older drums, and I kinda thought the original one was long enough. Some of the new parts didn't seem really fit with the song, but they are cool. I'm only like this because I like the original so much.

Way too repetative. Some parts would have been great had they not droned on for minutes at a time.

But overall, I really do love this song. It's just great. All you have to do is shorten some of the middle parts that play too long.

EDIT: !!!???? Uh, I'm going to pretend I didn't even hear that last piano part, :| pls delete it immediatly lol.

The song is Progressive Trance, so it does have a bit of repetitiveness.

Yes, I do regret ever adding the ending piano part...I might go in and spruce the song up once I get my hands on Fruity Loops 8. It just released. I'm waiting for...something special to happen...

Anyway, there were some parts that seemed not to fit in with it, but the song is supposed to be a soundtrack-type of song, that's why it's very long and there are very indifferent parts. Don't worry about this though, I'm planning on making a hard trance song once I get FL8. So you won't be left out in the dust with a long song you don't really care for. Can't wait to see what FL8 is like! :x

PS: The older drums were a bit more expressive, but honestly, most of the crowd who listen to my music over at AP really dislike the Fruity Loops drum loops, and I agree with them on that part, they get really old after a while so I try to stay away from them as much as possible. I might add the slow drum break I had in the previous version of Closure which played during the second melody. I tried my very best to create another custom piano roll with the FPC drum kit plugin that matched with it, but I think it should just be used for the background, along with the original loop.

Break Away was a pretty cool song (and not 20 min lol). I'm really looking foreward to your next song. And if you noticed, you got me as a fan now!

If there is Progressive Trance, is there Retarded Trance? ^_^ bad joke, but hey it's 03:00 am here...

Not a fan of drums only. Gonna liten to Closure next.

EDIT: you added the bassline too late, imo.

EDIT2: hehe, I love the Progressive Epic Trance :P

EDIT3: Closure tends to get a bit of dissonance in certain parts.

Closure
The final melody I can agree I drew out a bit, but the second melody and 3rd melody (this is excluding the action part) aren't really drawn out, the leads are just very long and I build up 4 different synths for the 2nd melody, so it takes a bit for it to break into a beat then dissipate into the next melody. The 3rd melody has about 7 synths I believe, but it starts off with two of them playing, so it progresses to the main melody where it breaks into a beat. I may make it a bit quicker if I ever plan to "re-re-master" the song, which I may do since this is one of my most pursued tracks.

Break Away
I'm currently working on fixing up Break Away so it's a full-fledged song and not just experimental. I'll also agree the bassline in that did come a bit late, but you know, it was 5am and I was tired. :)

PS: Vcool, does your joke imply that Progressive Trance is retarded? I couldn't figure that one out.

PSS: Epic Trance is just a custom genre I came up with. If I could put my own custom genre for the song over at AP, then I would have put Epic Trance. But it's certainly Progressive as well, so I'll settle with Progressive Epic Trance. Lemme know if you want to hear the explanation of what Epic Trance is.

You do know that Progressive Trance is a real, legitimate genre, right?
