Black Hawk Down (War - My favorite movie of all time)
Gran Torino (Beautiful acting - Very good plot and ending)
Underworld Evolution (Nice soundtrack, lots of action, sex)
V for Vendetta (Sci-Fi/Action - One of the most in-depth plots I've seen in a movie, this also ties for 1st)
Saving Private Ryan (War - Ok movie, you gotta see it at least once)
Pink Floyd's The Wall (Music - Told with no conventional dialogue, only The Wall soundtrack. Very good, thought provoking, one of the first movies to ever use composited animation that is very well done)
James Bond's Goldeneye (Action - It's a classic!)
The Exorcist (Horror - It's a classic!)
Gattaca (Sci-Fi - A truly thought provoking look at futuristic genetics, good plot and story, quite the thriller)
Boondock Saints (Action - This comes in at my 3rd favorite movie of all time, I can't tell you how good this is. Vigiliante style religious justice against evil-doers!)
Blade Runner (Sci-Fi - Oldie/It's a classic!)

RAVEM!!!

Oh and "...and now for my next impression - Jesse Owens!". Hehe, love that film.

However I'd like to add:

Men With Brooms
Airplane!
Evolution
Cool Runnings
Hot Fuzz
Monty Python - Life of Brian and Holy Grail
Simpsons Movie?

Sorry to change direction for a moment but I feel I need to say this.

Let's not mistake plot complexity for depth. Yes, the movie had lots of little things going on, but it is hardly deep by even the most lenient definition. It was an action movie, simple as that. But then they had to go a step further and make it an action movie with a message. It wouldn't have been so bad if it were more like the book, and more of a meditation rather than an author filibuster. Making political criticisms on strawmen characters is not quite profound.

It wouldn't have been so bad if it weren't re-written by an idiot.

In contrast, you should go out and watch a profound film: The Ninth Configuration

V for Vendetta was a terrible movie. But anyways, movie you should definitely watch before you die:

π (Pi)
2001: A Space Odyssey
A Clockwork Orange
Blade Runner
Children of Men
Contact
Conversation
Deer Hunter
Dr. Strangelove
Empire of the Sun
Eyes wide Shut
Gangs of New York
Gattaca
Gerry
God Father 1,2,3
Grave of the Fireflies
Heat
Lost in Translation
Man Who Fell to Earth
Million Dollar Baby
My Left Foot
New World
Pandora's Box
Rear Window
Spinal Tap
Taxi Driver
Thin Red Line
Waking Life

Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I'd like to note whoever that a good number of those are films are analytical ones, although I still feel they are all very enjoyable.

If you are going for pure entertainment for the sake of killing time, then I'd most likely say watch every piece of garbage horror/gore flick that's been released in the last few years.

Otherwise like a few others have recommended, check out stuff like Pineapple Express, Superbad, Napolean Dynamite, Nacho Libre. It isn't prime film making by any means but its still enjoyable and fun.

Oh, and also the Pixar films, those are awesome and old Disney movies as well.

Absolutely, I hope they release Restaurant at the End of the Universe, and get on with the other 4 parts of the trilogy.

You could only really say that if you haven't read the book. Until then, you won't know the true meaning of the word Epic.

And have I mentioned Wayne's World?

Wayne's World, absolutely.

And HHGTTG gets in because it's an amazing story in whichever medium - remember it was a radio show before it was a trilogy in 5 parts. And it changed everytime deliberately - Douglas Adams (RIP :( ) changed it everytime.

As this is about films only, it still gets in on it's own merit.
