Need several songs identified

Postby jenkins_08 on Mon Apr 27, 2009 4:30 am

Hey all i posted this on another forum but i may aswell ask here in case anybody can help me out.
Ive been searching high and low for at least 4 months (Since Christmas) for these artists, I was given this CD as a gift from my cousin and he got it from a DJ which makes me think these are either unknown artists or its a "DJ Fav mix" CD with all his favourite tunes on it.
It's mainly all dubstep however some have lyrics that i've also tried searching for many strings of the lyrics returning no results.
As a guess, the artist/s are from the UK and some are very very talented which makes me also think that they aren't as rare as i think.
I've uploaded them all and while i don't like sharing music to strangers and i am against music piracy as a fellow musician myself but i feel there is no other way of getting them ID'd so i can support them and purchase the albums (If they exist)

I've named a few of the tracks just for my reference when im listening to them. The titles are most likely incorrect.

Track 1:
http://www.mediafire.com/?lwmwmhmtuaj

Track 2:
http://www.mediafire.com/?jvii244yulj

Track 3:
http://www.mediafire.com/?wrwmlozbo4n

Track 4:
http://www.mediafire.com/?m2gjmzytz0y

Track 5:
http://www.mediafire.com/?3wqm1zozdt4

Track 6:
http://www.mediafire.com/?mzz3wmlm3ym

Track 7:
http://www.mediafire.com/?tzdoqtz22hm

Track 8:
http://www.mediafire.com/?vcjzywymw1q

Track 9:
http://www.mediafire.com/?ndqwewnwnnt

Track 10:
http://www.mediafire.com/?z0d2wonwztt

Track 11:
http://www.mediafire.com/?wimiynmy22m

Track 12:
http://www.mediafire.com/?oit5mkyn1td

Track 13:
http://www.mediafire.com/?n2nmzn4omz5

Track 14:
http://www.mediafire.com/?flezwyhmytz

Track 15:
http://www.mediafire.com/?y4mtvu1nmoj

Track 16:
(missing? idk there is no track 16 - was a data mp3 disc)

Track 17:
http://www.mediafire.com/?njztlklijmj

Out of all of those tunes, a few stick out to me (#1,#4,#5,#10,#11) as some of the best composed music to ever get listened to by these ears (especially #5)
I'm almost 22 years of age and have heard (and own) more than 20,000 different songs so that is a testament to this music.

Please help, i need to support these artists so they know at least one person freaking loves their stuff.

D: I don't know any of these, sorry man. I thought going in I might, but alas I do not. Some of your links are broken, like 11 and 1 I think, but I downloaded a few. I'm sorta pick on my taste with this kind of Electronica, so a lot of it didn't appeal to me much, however, #5 was pretty cool. The beginning I wasn't so keen on, but once you got the sorta trip hop beat going it took a good form. I'm trying to think of who it reminds me of, some of the sounds in it even reminded me of this one sorta cheesy artist with like 1 or 2 good songs, Paul Van Dyke I think was his name, not sure, he did a song called uhhh, "Bombs Away" which was actually very catchy IMO. But yeah. I dunno. I can't place my finger on any names for these. There's a lot of independent artists out there. I'll definitely keep my eye out for this though and see if I can find anything.

9 sounds like a weird 80's or early 90's song, and rofl at uh, 7. Hecka weird.

However, I would like to say my best guess is that most, if not all tracks are by the same artist, because I'm noticing a signature deep synthesizer like sound being used in the majority of the tracks. So. Hmm.

Okay I was wrong about Paul Van Dyke, it's "Niels van Gogh". Same thing. :P I don't think it's him, but he has some of the same styling at times.

Anyways, the thing I was saying about the signature synth thing is this, go ahead and listen to the songs at these times, you'll see what I mean.

#9 - Background at around 1:00

#2 - Around 0:45

#3 - 0:57

#4 - 0:25 In the background.

#5 - 0:54.

#6 - 1:08 and on.

#14 - 0:55ish

#12 - 0:53

#11 - 0:44 and on.

#10 - 0:56

Most of those examples you can hear the same base of around the same synth. It's all in the same family.
Not that this helps in your search at all, but I thought I'd point it out just in case you hear any other artist in your Dub-Step collection or whatever with the same synth.

Also, 17, 8, 15, and 13 seems the most "rap" based and seem to be the same core rappers and such. I tried Googling lyrics on some of these and nothing turned up as you know since you said you tried, so I dunno. :\

Just my little observations.

:smt023 Awesome thank you both heaps for this :D

After much searching it Seems the Artist/s for that specific tune (Where's my money Caspa Dubstep Rmx) is by TC however the other 15 tracks that i've posted i don't think they are from either of them. I've looked through about 25 Youtube vids this morning and to be quite honest this CD shits all over what i could find on Youtube or even what i could find on the labels website

Thank you Ssred aswell for the info, i've been thinking about trying to create some music like this myself but i think i need alot better software than what i have now. Also is it me or is the dubstep scene already starting to die (I'm told Dubstep is not about the scene, it's about the music but i've heard that a few too many times before)
In all honesty though, after i've listened to a few TC tracks they are alot more low rate than i was expecting, then again i shouldn't have high expectations for an artist i know nothing about but judging from the sounds of the CD it was hard not to go in with misconceptions :/

Thanks again and the only track i have been able to find from this CD so far is the link you sent before Dionysos, "Where's My Money" (Here is the original and to me it's crap dnb)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKzymtAVBqg

Also there are 1 or 2 dance/club tunes on that CD that really stand out aswell (15 and 17 i think), i highly doubt it's all the same artist but hey i could be wrong :P

I'm a pretty big DnB/dubstep fan so I'll listen to them and see if I can point you in the right direction ;)
Also these artists get more interest than you think, Chase and Status, TC, Rusko... even come to Belgium to play at Festivals/parties, and I know quite a lot people here that listen to this music too. This style is still growing though. And as you said, a lot of the DJ's that made these songs are from the UK :)
edit;
1: Definetely where's by money by TC, remixed by Caspa.
2: sounds familiar, but I can't put a name on it, sorry...
3: Don't know
4: Bread Get Bun by Caspa & Rusko
5: Eastern Jam by Chase and Status.
6: could be Rusko, not sure.
7: don't know, sorry, sounds ok though :)
8: don't know. He's mentioning rastafara in his lyrics don't know if that's his name, doesn't sound familiar.
9: Running by Chase and Status
10: SICK TUNE, don't know who made it unfortunately.
11: don't know
12: his voice sounds like it could be Benga, but I'm not sure, sorry :(
13: don't know
14: No idea...
15: No idea, the original song is Hang Me Up To Dry from the Cold War Kids... Sounds like a techtonic/electro remix of it, not really dubstep :p
16:
17: Sounds more like electro too, don't know by who.

Damn, I expected to recognize more of the songs, but the problem with most of them is that the people who made it aren't really famous, or I just have never heard it...
If you like this style and are searching for popular artists then I CAN help you though, here are some artists that I really like to listen to;
Aphrodite
Benga
Benny Page ( & MC Spyda)
Coki
Chase & Status
Caspa & Rusko
Dillinja
DJ Hazard
DJ Hype
Dubchild
G Dub
The Others, they have great dubstep (ex. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mwd3sxH0r5I )
Noisia
Sub Focus
Spor
Rusko
TC

Have fun with 'em ;)

Yep, no doubt about the fact that that is Dubstep, Drum and bass is just the music with the drum and the bass and sometimes some lyrics through it, and dubstep is quite similar but there is a hard wobble (the WOW WOW WOW WOW) and it sounds much darker. You also have dub, and it's the same like dubstep but then without the hard wobble, and it usually doesn't sound as dark and has lyrics in most cases.
