'Twas a good movie indeed. I enjoyed it a lot. I have to admit seeing Zachary Quinto as Spock was something strange after watching him play Sylar in Heroes (I always had the feeling he's gonna do a Vulcan skull-cut with his finger

) but he did a very good job.
Spoilers ahead!!!Kirk was badass (although Spock still gets the girls hehe), the russian guy was fairly good at conveying, erm, russianism, the crazy scotsman that develops the warp-teleport was pretty awesome. I loved the fact that old Spock was in there and they managed to tie in the two Star Treks. Old Spock says in the cave that before Nero changed the future the Kirk from future was all in his father and was pretty much what he was in old Star Trek, but the current Kirk is much different. So instead of completely rebooting the franchise with a completeley different idea they managed to make it sort of like the continuation of the old series that led to the past. I loved the "Space - the final frontier..." talk by Spock in the end, was a very god way to end the movie. Some of the people in the cinema started clapping at that point, and to be honest, I did so as well.
I've never been a trekkie, and I don't consider myself as such. What I've seen from the Star Trek series so far I always liked. I liked the couple of episodes of Enterprise and right now I am watching DS9 and I am loving it as well. They all have this charm that only shows set in space can have. Plus the actors did fairly well and most of the jokes are innocently funny.
So, all in all, I liked the movie a lot and it was a worthy continuation. Some of the stuff there was a bit far fetched but hey - it's Star Trek! "Enabling muon-positron emitters at Brechnel frequency...Neutrino flux stabilized..."
I am eagerly awaiting for the sequel now, because it looked a LOT like it will have a sequel. If they do make it, I hope it will be as worthy.
I have to admit, however, that I was to an extent saddened by it all. I suddenly realised how much the genre of space opera has been declining, both in quality and quantity. Now this can be simply because I don't watch TV and only find out about shows if I stumble on them in the Internet, and I hope it is. But there's still that nagging feeling, and being a die-hard fan of anything related to Cosmos I feel sad.
