Possible to play BluRay on PC?

Just wondering this, is it possible to play BluRay movies on a PC with a widescreen? Or does the monitor have to have that big shiny ala-Microsoft sticker that says HDTV-certified?

you need a blueray reader. That is all.

Even an old crt screen could play bluray movies, as long as you have a blu ray reader.

So it's a matter of the reader. Do they only make hardware readers? I'll have a got at finding software BR readers.

You thought you could read blurays in a dvd or cd rom player?

bluerays require a blue laser (hence, blue ray), as opposed to a cd or dvd (=red laser). So yeah, you either need that expensive reader, or download your movies (no wait, thats illegal, no wait, its not, no wait, i dont know!)

No no, I was merely asking whether it was possible to read BluRay files or more precisely, disc images, on the PC. Not burning them or anything. I know you can't shove them in a regular player.

I know enough about regular movie files and DVDs, but I never really read anything about BluRay and how it works. So I guess I'll brush up my knowledge first.
