Percussion Software

Postby Phott on Sat Jan 02, 2010 10:07 pm

So, some of you might know that I make music in my free time, one thing that really makes it harder for me is the way I do the percussion/drums in my "songs/tunes", I'm currently using a free demo of Rhytm Rascal, which is really good in my opinion because of how simple it is and the way that it exports the midi it creates into a wav file. But.. If I make a loop that passes over like 6 seconds it adds clicks, so I have to make a short sample and loop it, whenever I want the drums to change I need to make a new file, add it in Audacity and make it go perfectly with the other percussion. This takes unnecessary extra time and it's pretty much what keeps me from recording new stuff.

tl;dr
Is there any good and free percussion software out there that can export into wav/mp3 or any other file format that Audacity will recognize?

(Didn't know if I should've posted in Hardware & Software or here since it is relevant to both.)

How about you silence the clicks in Audacity or just add pieces of un-clicked beats on the clicked spots?

Impossible, they never play alone, they come up at the same time as a sound plays.

Fruity Loops is great for sequencing. I myself use it for all my music production, but I think they have a free edition that allows you to make beats, but only that. You can't save a project, but you can export the beats in to individual, looping wav files and such.

I've looked at it, but I didn't really like it, I don't get the sound I want from it.

What do you mean the sound? You can get more samples and add them to the library if you want. I've found some pretty decent drum samples at Freesound.

If you're talking about how it crackles and such sometimes, it's just because you're rendering it in real-time. Once you export to wav or MP3, that goes away. Although for beats, that shouldn't really be much of an issue.

Hmm.. I'll look into that, I really don't have a problem downloading stuff.
