Wow that is some pretty messed up shit...

Though it seems you can still post the stuff you just can not do it without saying who you are. It begs the question, why do they need to know? Are they going to contact you and ask you nicely to refrain from such comments? I hardly think that is the goal... This seems to be a pretty clear use of fear tactics to stop people from questioning the government.

It's weird, I've always seen Australia as a "good guy". Not like "completely awesome guy" of course, that game censoring system of theirs is beyond ridiculous, but freedom of speech is like one of the cornerstones of democracy, and taking that away makes Australia just as bad as any other totalitarian fuck-up state like China. I can't possibly understand why they would want that.

I'm in Victoria so it's safe here...for the moment at least. I don't think an internet filter is on the Victorian government's agenda, though here's me hoping that it doesn't become federal law.

Though I am surprised to see that this isn't the usually purported blacklisting of sites, but a direct impediment on political speech, seems otherworldly bizarre to me. If we're making a slow progression towards authoritarianism, I'd hate to see where we've ended up in 50 years time.

On the bright side, at least we don't have a plethora of cctv cameras.

Maybe they have a pact with england.

"They're doing it, we have to too!"

And then both have censorship and total surveillance.
