Iron sky could be the start of a new era for finnish movie makers. Its makers proved with Star Wreck that they could make a fairly entertaining movie with a low budget and now they are able to really make a movie with a decent budget (for a finnish movie!).

The one thing worth saying about Finlands film industry is that it is one of the worst in the world. It all goes back to the fact that Finland has one of the most high tax rates in the world. Because of the taxes it is impossible for anyone to get rich in Finland (as the tax rate goes higher and higher for the more money you have). Only way to get rich is to work abroad or create an international company. Films don't get funding because there is no one rich or brave enough to produce movies in Finland. So everybody has to get funding abroad. And it is not easy. Also finnish film industry sucks because no one ever tries out anything new. It is all the same.

Iron sky is one of the few movies ever created in Finland but which have gotten funding abroad. And that is the only way it is going to be a good movie. Finlands film industry is filled with shitty tragedy movies and romantic-comedies (which arent even funny!). And the worst part is that Finland has relatively few actors when compared to the population, so the same shitty finnish actors are in every god damn film!

I see great potential in Iron sky, though only for the very reason that it is made by mostly finnish people, but it is not a film of finnish film industry.

I've been waiting for this film to finally get made it has the smell of cult crash all over it...ever since that teaser trailer hit online a year or so back I've been dying to see some real footage...the artwork is enough to keep me over for a couple more months
