Media players

Wasn't quite sure whether this belonged here or in Hardware / Software but the latter seems more a 'help help I broke something!' place which isn't quite the issue here...

What's your recommended media player? Ie for films, videos etc on the computer (think VLC, Windows Media Player etc). On a related note, does anyone know of a player that allows you to advance frame by frame? I'm trying to build up a library of facial expressions and shapes from film and tv to use as references for facial animation and drawing, but I really, really need a player that allows frame-by-frame skipping to get that perfect, clean shot. Any recommendations?

Video: media player classic x64 (also does frame by frame btw) > vlc > everything else.

Foobar should be after winamp and before WMP in your list, Zombie.

VLC. Though I find it incredibly unstable when playing certain media types, i.e. WMV. Sometimes it's fine and other times poof, no sound, or stutters, or it closes and leaves the process running at 50cpu etc. But I don't watch many .WMVs, so it usually fits the bill.

Use MPC HC. It's much more stable and won't give you any of those horrible artifacts that VLC produces on a regular basis.

All music I listen to exists in spotify, so every other media goes in vlc all time :)
