Obscure music

Whats your favorite obscure band? Links to songs (legal links of course... don't wan the RIAA to crap out their ovaries) by the obscure bands would be neat too.

My favorite obscure band would have to be Spoon. http://www.spoontheband.com

While not as well known as say, metallica, Juno Reactor and Paul Oakenfold are by no means obscure. Let's see, Juno Reactor was heavily involved in Matrix Reloaded (the last one too?) and Paul Oakenfold scored the (terrible) swordfish. Also, Oakenfold tickets go for $50. $50 to watch a man spin turntables? Good god, I know he's good, but that's ridiculous.

My favorite obscure "band" is Tom Beardsly. No site I know of, just a local guy around here that plays some amazing acoustic/blues music.

these guys arent exactly tiny, but...

Brendan Benson. I shouldnt, but seriously, fallen in love with this guy. singer-songwriter pop stuff, but seriously - you'd be surprised.

Saul Williams - the only new artist in hip-hop for a good 5 years or so who actually has a soul. angry, nutty noyorican poetry + schitzophrenic electronic production. good stuff.

fourtet - who said electronica can't be emtional?

cant think of any more at the moment

edit: some others i thought of: Cimenatic Orchestra, Amon Tobin, DJ Format, Lo-Fidelity Allstars (the old lineup), Roni Size Reprazent, Save Ferris

:) I should just post my entire Winamp playlist...

-Apartment 26
-Berserkr
-BiGod20
-Bound for Glory
-Death in June (later Boyd Rice & Fiends)
-DJ Adolf!!
-E Nomine
-Elvenking
-Fields of the Nephilim (later Nephilim)
-Gravity Kills (an old favourite)
-Infected Mushroom (best trance ever!!)
-Karl Sanders
-Kremator
-Lacrimosa
-Nahkampf
-Pluton Svea
-RaHoWa
-Fight (not really obscure because it's one of Rob Halford's projects)
-Sonata Arctica (favourite band of all time!! :) )
-Soviet
-Télépopmusik (apparently not as obscure in Europe as it is here in Canada)
-Therion
-Turmion Kätilöt
-Wolfsheim
-:wumpscut:
-the Kovenant
-Cross (the only Canadian skinhead band I know of!)

They're mostly so obscure that no one gives a rat's ass if you download their music...just go to altavista.com and search their names in the MP3/Audio section.

O yeah, and a band called 7th Reign introed for Sonata Arctica at their show here on the 25th, they were amazing! When he started singing, I thought, "since when is Rob Halford on the intro?" I think it's from Toronto, Ontario.
