Hip Hop

I have never seen someone else in modding community that likes hip hop. ever. im not talking about G-unit MTV rap bullshit, im talking old school (and some new) hip hop.

Yeah I am really into Wu. I also like a lot of old-school west coast rap. NWA, Dre, Snoop(when he was good), and Ice Cube. There isn't really any current rappers that I like. Lately I have been listening to a lot of Bone and Biggie. I can only imagine how much better Biggie would have been if Puffy was never involved. If you want to hear a really different rap cd check out Blue Eyes Meets the Bed-Stuy. Its Biggie songs mixed with Frank Sinatra songs. I know it sounds blasphemous to touch Frank Sinatra stuff but it really is good. But I like both artists so yeah...
Their first album was better.

Exactly. It is so ridiculously horrible nowadays. I'm sure there is some good stuff on the underground but I cba to look since I would rather find good underground metal.

There's a pretty and underground group called Atmosphere that a lot of guys i work with are into. I'm no big hip hop fan. The lyrics might not be as meaningful to europeans as a lot of their songs have to do with living in midwestern america... like minnesota.

Uh...Redman and Run DMC is apparently not "MTV bulls**t"??

This thread is in the wrong forum if you ask me. This is for music -- not jungle sound effects.

EDIT:

Wait. Before I judge ALL hip-hop as one collective body of fecal matter, there is one sole man who is considered "hip hop" who I enjoy the mind and music of. That man is Saul Williams.

He's like the dadaist movement of hip-hop. His point is all about modern hip-hop being pointless and giving people a bad image. His writing is simply amazing and some of the lines he says on stage or in recordings simply blew my mind the first time I heard of him. He really changed my perspective on hip-hop "artists" -- now I like one of them instead of hating them all :D

any rapper in the song "Whack Rappers" by Afroman is indeed, whack.

Right now my faves are Chamillionaire and Pitbull, both i would probably list as up and coming, even tho pitbull is coming out with i think his 3rd album this yr, he still hasn't had a standalone hit, except Bojangles, which only plays in Miami and on my myspace.
