Hi from paradisaical tropical north Queensland, Australia. I've been making models for a while using blender and the GIMP (yeah I'm an opensource whore), trying to increase my skills and compiling for sourcemods. I'm kinda freelance but at the moment I am working for a particular unannounced mod. I have a few models on my site, have a look if you would. I've got a long way to go so practice makes perfect. I see a lot of fantastic work coming off these forums, thought it might be time to get on the bandwagon.

Mapzone is okay, but I rarely use it anymore. It is very hard to get photorealistic textures out of. I made a barebasics tutorial to help people figure out how to use it first time. It is definitely a powerful program but you have to really understand a lot about texture theory and then come to grips with the control scheme. Some people have done marvelous things with it and if you aren't looking for photorealism then give it a go, I have textured a lot of models using just the textures I made from that but they never looked realistic.
